remote turn on "type of wire to use"

on-going trying to get my amp to work, im thinking its my remote turn on wire that is bad.... so today i went to circuit city, and radioshack, and both places did not have any specific remote lead for sale other than in a kit (which is the way i originally bought it)... so i asked the installers there what to use and they said just to take a speaker wire, splice it down to one wire / lead, and use that... i questioned him about the current going threw it, and he said its a very low amount that the speaker wire will be more than safe to use! so i went to radio shack and the guy there also said speaker wire... now before i hook it up and risk it , is this recommended? ok to use? thanx in advance

that is what i use also. i usually just use both wires and tie them together on both ends and i also add an in-line fuse just in case something goes crazy.

Remote wire can be very small 18 gauge. The remote signal will be less than 1 amp.

If you're in my area I'll give you some for free.

Alot of newer aftermarket decks now have 2 blue wires in the harness, one for remote turn on and one for a type of display dimmer. If this is the case you may just be hooking to the wrong blue line.

great news! i got it it to work... actually i cant take the credit for it.... those familiar with buffalo ny, Darryl's car audio "hooked me me up" i went there as a last attempt to get this working after trying for WEEKS! it turned out that my inline fuse was fried, and the remote turn on wire was bad... so after just quickly hooking it u ghetto style with wires drapped over seats and dash, i went home and re-routed everything so it looks factory!

Oh yea- btw- about darryls car audio... "kudos" to them for the excellent service! when i asked them how much i owe him... i was expecting at least 30-40 bux... he said dont worry bout it! i was like WOW! So thats why i say he hooked me up! free remote turn on wire , about 15 feet, and a free fuse! I now will do all my audio business thru them! thankyou everyone here for your help tho!
