Just picked up a new toy, i felt the need for speed so i found a 1998 camaro z28. It has the performance suspension so there is no speed limiter. Got it pretty cheap cause it needs some work. So far i have replaced the pass. lower control arm, fan support, rear shocks, front coilovers with Edelbrock-eibach springs and shocks. Wow is this car fast! Probably not as fast as most but it puts a grin on my face. After driving the camaro my truck feels so much more comfortable but sooo slow, lol. Just cant get used to falling into the low sitting thing, i still love my truck though!

Awesome!

Z28's are nice, my buddy has a 95 Z28 for his weekend/summer car. That thing is insane fast, we went 150mph down a empty stretch of road one day a couple years ago before deciding to back off. It was very scary, the car did not feel stable at all at that speed, it was swaying side to side. But it was also a lot of fun. Still not something I would want to do again anytime soon.

Have fun with the new toy! Don't go ruining the self confidence of too many mustang owners.

The only car I've gone close to that speed in is my 1979 Mercedes 6.9. At 145 mph, it still felt extremely stable.

Later on in that trip, I was pulled over for going 106 in a 70, and got a $600 ticket :D

Ouch! 600bucks! I have only gone 85 and that was merging onto the expressway. I am in the process of replcing the front suspension, brakes and a million little things the owners before me ignored. But i can say this.. It really burns the tires. Must be pre-torque management, lol

Yep, $600. Insane fines & fees is one of the many, many things I don't miss about California.

Don't come to Louisiana and try that. A fine, plus a free place to sleep for the night.(Bonus free boyfriend)

I've gone over 130 in mine and it was a heck of a lot more stable than I was expecting.

As for your new toy...WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICS!

Congrats man :D

Sounds nice. They do run great and fun to drive.

Talk about scary, try a 1968 Impala Custom 2dr. 120mph down hill with tail wind. Yes, it was unstable, oh did I mention drum brakes are not very efficent!!!!!

That was back in my YDAS days.

haha,

The best car i've ever driven fast in was my 91 caprice classic (don't laugh) even though it was limited at 108mph it felt extremely smooth at that speed. The only aftermarket parts on it was a K&N panel filter and a very heavy duty rear stabilizer bar. There were some very wide curves I could take it around at 90 mph that my 97 bonneville could only do about 80 around. I swear that Caprice felt like it was glued to the ground.

I here ya. I had my '70 GTO to 140. The drum brakes stink!

PS 140 with about 100k miles on a BB pontiac makes for a quick call to the rebuilder.

This fella I used to work for a few years back claims to have run his 93' ZR-1 to 180 on 146 towards Texas City, Texas. He could have had the room, and the car is probably capable of it...woulda liked to have been in the passenger seat then.

Driving a fast car will always put a grin on your face. My step-brother used to have a 98 Camaro SS. That car was so sweeeeet. He let me drive it for a couple days once, and i can still remember how much fun that was. That manual 6-speed sure was cool... I just wish he wouldnt have gotten married and had a kid... he might still have it. but i guess a guy's got to to what a guy's got to do....
