How I spent my 4th

I have had a SES light on for the vent valve for a couple of months and was gonn just change that tody but last night I took the family to some early fireworks and heard a bad u-joint so I picked those up this morning (yes NAPA was open) and changed those first. Than since I had the rear off the ground I tackled the vent valve selenoid. What a PITA. Whose the over paid engineer that decided where that part should be? I guess I should have had my 13 year old disconnect the tube and wiring since my hand wouldn't fit in there. But, got it changed and remembered I ordered new shocks several weeks ago and why not since my hands wre dirty and all that. So all 4 shocks done. Took the truck off the stands and for a test drive and froze since the resistor for the blower was bad and only worked on arctic blast. Oh yeah I ordered that a couple of weeks ago too. Changed that out and now all is well in Sierra land. Yeah I know I shouldn't put this stuff off till there is so much to do, but I did. What a day. Feels like I accomplished something though.

Oh yeah , forgot the best part. I had to change out my trailer plug, 7 round. So I bought a new one at Wally World couple weeks ago and set into changing that today as well. Package said 7 round, looked right. I use the one that has the 4 flat on the side so I can pull my boat and sled trailer without the adapter that keeps getting stolen if you leave it on the truck, you know the one right. So I installed the receptacle on the truck, went well. Looks great. And than I tried to plug the trailer into it............. Some SOB had put a 5 round in the package. @*#%#$!@%^&**()^&^$@!@()&()__+)(_+&%%^#. Thats kinda what I said when I couldn't get the 7 pin into the 5 pin hole. Story of my life. I am so tired of buying things that have been returned to stores like Home Cheapo, Wowes and Wally World only to find parts missing or the wrong thing in the package. Can't someone look these things over once they are returned to make sure they are all there or are even the right thing to begin with? OK I'm done. Still feel like I accomplished something. What a day.

Me and my buddy got a few things done as well,He's in the process of restoring a '79 Corvette for his brother (My buddy has a '73 Corvette)

We got some little things done.....polished the wheels up,cleaned and painted up underneath after we reinstalled the rear spring and bleed the brakes, changed oil and filter (We won't even talk about how tight the previous owner had the filter on  ) And we took some things apart that need gone over such as the air intake system and took the hood off to clean it up underneath and repaint it.

So it was a pretty productive day for us also, but theres still a lot of work to be done on this thing. :)

Never said none of it was not my fault. Nope never noticed the package was opened and NO I didn't get it cheaper cause it had been opened. Maybe you should take Wingnuts advice than you wouldn't be such and as#%le. I did the receptacle change at the end of a long day hurrying to get done so I could partake of some suds. Went and got the right one today and swapped it out.

The best part of the saga happened today. Since I had the wrong plug in on my truck I couldn't take my construction trailer to the job, threw a bunch of tools in the back of the Sierra and off i go. Just before the job, which is on a dirt road, you have to go around a corner and over a small bridge. Just as I round the corner I hit a bump and the tailgat e pops open Out of the truck flies a pnuematic stapler and a corless drill kit. you guessed it into th river it went never to be seen again. I left early and the wife is on VACA so I didn't want to slam the tailgate. IT WAS MY OWN FAULT. There you happy I took responsibilty for this. Life goes on. Now for more brew.

I too burned myself more than once by buying something in a previously opened and returned package. Now I simply will not buy anything new except in the original sealed package or a taped or undisturbed looking box.

Nowadays there are people who will buy a new tool, use it and then return it for a full refund. Even something like an electric drill, which they probably abuse beyond belief too.

Lol, I know this sounds lame, but when there's something on the shelf I want to buy, I always grab the one two or three back in the best package, never the item in the very front. It kinda like buying milk with the farthest expiration date.

You need to relax a bit, and watch that trolling.

Yeah... the vent valve was someones idea of a joke.. I bet it's not bad on a lift where you can see it as your messing with it. But laying on your back and trying to take that out is not easy.
