Two Options to Order or Not to Order?

If I am paying around $800 for buckets, should I get the heated ones?  Can you feel them thru a seat cover?  Does anyone have them and wish they didn't?

Onstar-The only benefits to me are in case of a wreck whrere no one is around. Maybe having it call for help is worth $120 or so a year?  I know three people who got it and it was a "gee whiz" thing for the first year. Now they have disconnected due to their not using it.  Any suggestions or comments are welcome.

I never used Onstar once, so I didn't subscribe after the free year was up.

I live in the South so he heated seats aren't a must have for me. But my wife loves them. She turns it on every time she rides in the truck.

Personally, the part of me that gets hottest when driving does not need any additional heating.  I heard that one company, maybe Saab, offers seat cooling fans.  This I would buy.  My wife, on the other hand, always asks why I don't order heated seats.

My dad bought an Olds van that came with onstar.  He's used it twice:  once to see if it worked and once by mistake.

The heated seats are really comfortable in winter time on leather.  I used to have them on a Volvo I used to own.  However, living in Mississippi at the time, I got to use that feature maybe two or three times out of a year.  OnStar is pretty much a useless feature unless you travel quite a bit and tend to leave your keys in the car a lot.  Most people I know did not renew after the free first year was up.

I love my heated seats. I use them more often then I thought that I would and my wife uses them even more. Yes you can really feel the heat mine gets down right hot. That is just my .02. Hey TxDoc I noticed that you have a link to my picture page on your signature

Living in PA I use my heated seats all winter long...  they heat up quick, and that cold leather is cold on your hiney, so it's a nice option.

Onstar was cool, but I only drive my truck about 5-6K a year, so I saw no sense in renewing it when the free year was up...  I used it about 1/2 dozen times or so just to amuse my friends while riding down the road.  I never needed it for an emergency, and I could see where it could come in handy, but it's not for me...

One question, if you are getting leather buckets, why not go ahead and price the truck out with the "LT" package?  All that stuff and more comes with it and the package deal saves you some money...

I checked and to my embarrassment, I got a PictureTrail message, "you have entered an invalid name".  I got it corrected. Thanks for letting me know.

I appreciate the replies. They have helped a lot.

From what I heard, ONStart is like old disconnected cell phones, they are still good to call 911 when there is no longer service. I may be wrong, or mixing info......

I love the heated seats in the IL winter.  You get warmed up faster that way than waiting for the interior to warm up.  It is sometimes nice when I have the occassional sore back.  It think the heated seats come with HEATED MIRRORS.  Must have if you have ice.

I opted for the addtional year for Onstar.  The just in case ideas came to mind.....tracking of stolen car, emergency dialing and location if in wreck, unlocking feature (knock on wood.....has never ever happened to me )  But that was a hard decision for me.

Living in the North East I've had the oportunity to use my heated seats quite often. Nothing worst then climbing into a cold truck in the morning and having to wait for the cab to warm up, so with the heated seats you can get a jump start on warming your body up. another worth while investment would be the electric start, get that cab warmed up before I leave the house.

Dad's Yukon has onstar. Personally, I'd use it if I travelled out of town/state frequently. For me, it is useless.

I don't care much for the heated seats he has either, even here in Michigan

I traded for the only Z71 SLT Ext. cab my dealer had that wasn't black (nothing against owners of black vehicles, just my previous 2 vehicles were black and it seems like I live in the pollen capital of the world).

It has both options.  I have yet to use Onstar (had the truck almost a month now).  My bud uses his a lot on his Denali though.  He uses the high end features (GPS).

I haven't used the heated seats yet.  The lowest temp over the last month was in the high 70's (104 wednesday).

if you live in the south heated seats are probably not needed.

unless you are accident prone or need your doors unlocked a lot, OnStar is probably not for you.  a cell phone should be all you need, unless you want the added security of having someone know if the air bags go off
