I am new here and I have a question, I have a 305 5.0 inside my 98 chevy c/k1500 third door ext. cab. I want to know how to make my engine better, I want it better looking, better running, better gas mileage, and longer life in general that is MY MAIN CONCERN my SECONDARY less important concern is to get more horses although I wouldnt mind them, a supercharger isnt at the top of my list. I mean I just need advice as to how to make it better engine in general, like even good enough to be able to "show-off" :banghead:

K&N intakes make a world of difference and looks good too. A good quality cat-back systems will add performance and looks. What looks cooler then big chrome pipes out the back.

You could try getting a performance tuning, there are a whole lot of threads on those, on here.

Now for a little more in depth...you could always go with a mild cam, but unless you can do it yourself it is not very cost effective. The same goes for a transmission shift kit. Both are in summit but require a bit of mechanic ability.

As far as long engine life, just keep up with maintance and don't over do it on the showing off. The 305 is a great little V8 and there are limitless possibilities on modding it.

Get some performance magizines like "Jegs" or "Summit" they carry tons of small block GM performance parts.
