2002 Suburban

I have a 2002 Chevy Suburban with a 8.1 liter motor. The truck has gone into the Reduced Ehgine Power Mode several times and should do this if the truck is overheating. The truck is not overheating and nothing else appears to be wrong. It has beed serviced several times, replaced the throttle sensor 2x as indicated by computer codes that it was not functioning properly. The truck has still gone into the Reduced Power Mode two more times. The computer does not report anything is wrong with the vehicle. Is there a possibility something else is wrong or a reason why the vehicle would switch to this mode by error. Each time after turning the car on and off it has gone back to normal. I am now told by a dealer it is a guessing game if they start replacing items starting with the throttle body. Problem is each guess costs $500 to $1000.

i had this exact problem about a yr ago

and it was cuased by a bad MAF

 

so i would recomend trying to clean it with mass air meter cleaner and go from there

also look if your screen on the maf is clogged

 

the reduced engine power mode comes on for a few reasons not just over heating so give it a try

 

even if it dosent work you will then have a clean maf

I need to know on the paper work that you got when they replaced the throttle sensor what was the part #

this will tell me if they replaced the throttle sensor with the correct one since gm had a mix up
