I have a 96 GMC Sierra (Silverado) and want to knoe how to revove the headlights. They appear to be one single unit with the plastic lenses. The only fasteners that I see are two Torx head screws that I cant reach with my Torx tool.

If I remember correctly, the grill needs to come off to access the screws for the headlights and turn signals. There are about 4 screws along the top of the grill, one below the letters GMC, and some clips along the plastic filler above the bumper.

If you have the composite headlamps, you don't have to pull the whole assembly to change the bulbs. The bulbs should be able to come out the back side, though you may have to move things in the engine compartment (battery, air cleaner, etc. etc.).

They are like the lower pic, both in a single unit.

Isb't there a little pin type thing that you turn and pull up, and that releases the whole assembly. i thing the torx screws are for adjustment. Iremoved mine to put in new bulbs and the mrtaillight kit, I don't remeber exactly how to do it, but it was really easy, didn't have to remove the grill.

Different style truck, no little pins that release the whole assembly in 96.

Oops, guess I can't read, thought he said '06. Sorry.

Don't think I ever took the headlights off my '97.

I also have an 03 yukon and to change the front or rear lamps is a cinch.

For the front, just remove two pins and the whole assembly comes out and the bulbs can be easily changed. ( I put some LEDs in the DRLs and the work fine with little heat generated.

The rear assembly comes out by removing two screws.

It's the best thing GM ever designed! :happysad:
