Lund bug sheild causing wind noise

Just installed a Lund Inteceptor on the 06 Silverado Dmax and at speeds above 60mph the windsheild molding is flapping causing an annoying noise. What can be dont to hold the molding down?

I remember reading about the GM sheild having double sided tape that installs on the back side of the windowsheild molding.

Anyone use a clear silicone adhesive on the back side of the windsheild molding? This is what I was thinking about doing.....

So far I LOVE the DURAMAX...

Nothing...my wife;s 04' does the same thing...I just take it off during the winter so I don't hear it.

The silicone will work but is a little messy. Anything that seals the moulding down will cure the problem. It's usually the top that needs sealing but it's easy to find the exact spot by adding strips of duct tape and test driving.

I had the same thing on mine and ended up taking the bug shield off and going with a permanent one: Line-X on the front of the hood.

those bug deflectors are about as effective as tits on a boar. I had one on my 2000 about all it did was whistle and keep the front of the hood from getting chipped up, didn't deflect any bugs that is for sure.

Well i installed it mainly to keep the large front of the hood from gettin chipped up. During winter here they drop a combination of sand and ash on our roads and i really hate getting the fronts of my vehicles sandblasted. I think im gonna put some 3M double sided tape on the moldings sometime this weekend....that should fix it.

those bug deflectors are about as effective as tits on a boar. I had one on my 2000 about all it did was whistle and keep the front of the hood from getting chipped up, didn't deflect any bugs that is for sure.

LOL . May not deflect bugs very well but it saved my hood from a rock the size of a golf ball from hitting it. The impact was so hard that it broke a portion of the shield off w/o any hood damage.

Anyway, all of my GM Trucks / SUV's with shields had the wind noise. I fixed it with running a thin bead of all purpose glue under the trim. Works like a champ, and no mess. Just clean under the trim w/ rubbing alcohol before applying the glue. Tape the trim after gluing for a few hours. You're good to go.

What are the differences between the Intercepto and the Avenger from Lund?

Is the Avenger any better than the Inceptor or vice versa?

I seen the ones that hug the hood really nice but think they do limited good. More for style than looks.

What do you all recommend? I would like to go with Lund.

I had this problem with a Lund Interceptor on a 2001 Yukon XL. I solved it by sliding a heavy drinking straw (I used one from McDonalds) between the moulding and the windshield. There is a wide groove under the moulding that will hold the straw. The straw holds the moulding away from the windshiled and prevents it from vibrating in the wind. The mod is invisible and was still working when I sold it 3 years later.

I have an EGR Super Guard on my 06 HD Sierra. It's silent. The moulding seems to be more rigid so I don't know if it's the truck or the bug guard that made the difference.

For what it's worth, the EGR is better at actually delecting bugs from the windshield.

I went with the LUND Interceptor on all 3 of my trucks because I ordered them clear and had the backs of the sheild painted body color. I love the look of the body color sheild and the clear ones are hard to find.
