My friend has a 2004 f150 ext cab 4x4 5.4 triton on 20's and i have an 04 gmc sierra ext cab z71 5.3 on 20's. He's always talkin crap about my truck and how bad he could out run me so tonight we lined em up. We pulled up to a stop light and he said u ready to get a bite and i couldn't wait. Light turned green and i jumped him a truck and a half quick. I hit second gear and was 4 trucks easy. I slowed down about 70 for the next light and asked him what happend. He just shrugged his shoulders and said let's go again. Light turned green and same result not even close. I figured it would at least be closer considering he had more cubic inches plus cold air intake. We both have flowmaster exhaust but the only other thing i have is a drop in K&N filter but i guess that's a ford for ya.

I rented a Ford F150, same motor as your friends, but it was 2wd. That thing was a gutless turd compared to my '02 Z71 Ex cab. I was pretty shocked as to how crappy it was.

Ive never driven a 5.4l before. I hear they have horid throttle response on forums. My best friend had a 99 f150 reg cab flareside (pretty much a Ford version of my truck, even red too) 2wd with a 4.6 k&n and flowmasters, it actually wasnt too shabby. I drove it a few times it was pretty decent

Maybe your buddy has 3.55 gears

I beat an '05 ext cab ford by 2 truck lengths up to 75mph, and I have a 2000 5.3 with only 285hp lol.

Yea I also have a silverado 5.3, 2000 and my friend has an 05 ford F-150 5.4, same as mine; ext cab 4 wheel. I just bought the truck so he decided to come "see" it. Although he never looked, he just pulled up and said "wanna run'em". I had driven his truck b4 and was Extremely confident that I could take him. First stoplight we stopped, waited, light green, and then I beat him by at least 5 lengths to 80. This same result happened two more times. I have always known that motor trend was biased against chevy but I never knew how bad until I read the article where the F-150 smoked the chevy so bad. Hands down this little 5.3 is one of the fastest motors Ive seen in a truck!

Well...I know that an stock 04? 5.4L was running mid 18's at the track, pretty bad. He said he just got it and disliked it because of the throttle response (practly none) and I guess the new ones have an electronic controlled trhottle? and sometimes it wouldn't kick in fast enough.

Yeah, motor trend is stupid. They said the Honda Ridgeline was the truck of the year for '05 I beleive. Some truck of the year. Im sure they picked it because of the Vtec V6...must be a stump puller. Unibody...

Im pretty confident my 88 ford would out tow that thing like it was its job. :puke:

My 2000 was only rated at 270 horse. The 285 version didnt come out untill 2001 or 2002, i think.
