Got to see a new 07 Ex-Cab today and looks much better in person than in pics. I got to talk to the guy for a few seconds and all he'd really say is that according to his DIC he was getting 23mpg coming up the Pa Turnpike. The truck was a dark blue Z71 with tan leather interior, interior is very nice looking but looks like it belongs in a Caddy and not a truck but thats about how they all are anymore. Looks like trade time in a few months.

You must be talking about the GMT800 Classic because the GMT900 wont be out until November. In fact they arent going to advertise it until the Worldseries starts i believe 10/21/06.

If it was a GMT900 it was a captured fleet vehicle and is being evaluated by engineering.

I will say that I saw one while out and about a few days ago. however, I couldn't tell if it had the MFG plate on it or not, because it was actually towing a trailer...all I know is I saw that new Chevy front end and was like 'OMG there's the Chevy Titan! I mean the Nissan Silverado! I mean...Oh hell never mind, it's UGLY!'

sorry, just don't like the new Chevys...haven't since they changed 'em in '00. The GMC just looks 100,000x better.

This one did have the Michigan Manufacture plates on it. I asked him to sell me that one but he said I'd be able to get one soon enough.

There was no doubt it was the new style.

Believe the 23MPG reading from the DIC is wrong. For some reason they tend to read high for the first couple thousand miles. And then, they're off by MPG and also Gallons used, usually 1-2 gallons.

Mine will read 20mpg and yet hand calculated it's 16-17 mpg.

The GM MPG estimates for the 07 trucks are exactly the same a the past 4-5 years. They didn't increase the MPG's...

The 07 marketing campaign is going to start this weekend. They had a special on our news last night because john Mellencamp is doing the song for it. They showed most of the commercial it mixed old and new trucks

It looks pretty cool

Here is the story stright from GM today.

Chevrolet Goes All-American with Truck Ads

Chevrolet is going heavy on the all-American imagery as it rolls the advertising campaign that will promote the new Chevy Silverado, which officially rolls out Thursday at the Texas State Fair. Football also will play a big part in the new ad campaign, which is anchored by commercials with new music from John Mellencamp as well as billboards, Web sites, an infomercial and print ads geared specifically for each of the 85 different magazines that have been included in the ad buy.

Kim Kosak, Chevrolet's general director of advertising and promotions said the campaign will start with pre-launch ads on college and professional football telecasts starting next weekend.

The official launch of the ad campaign will come on the opening night of the World Series on Oct. 21. GM also will launch a separate but similar campaign in Spanish the same day, she said.

GM doesn't release figures on advertising spending but Kosak said the Silverado campaign would consume nearly all Chevy's ad budget during the fourth quarter. The Silverado is GM's most important product and a significant piece of GM's sales volume and the spending would be commensurate, Kosak said. Kosak added that GM also will be expanding the ad buy on television by placing spots on prime time and late night programming. Traditionally truck ads have been seen almost exclusively on sports programming.

Gary Pascoe, executive creative director at Campbell Ewald in Warren, said the ads carry a lot of emotion but they aren't jingoistic and are meant to emphasize the diversity of the American experience over the past half-century.- Joseph Szczesny

Start of saleable trucks will after 11/06 and only in the #1500 series.

23 MPG is very possible on interstate highways driving at 60 MPH. My DIC is very accurate and is never off by more than 1-5 tenths of a gallon on every fill up. The pumps could account for that. The PCM knows exactly how much fuel is being used. The 2005 and newer do have a increased rating of 1 mpg over prior years. My 02 Xcab Z71 5.3 was rated at 14-18 and my CC Z71 5.3 is rated at 15-19.

Thats exactly what it was, just like redvett said,a "preproduction" or "pilot" unit being evaluated by an engineer.

My 04 EXT 4x4 pickup gets an average of 19.9 20.2 on my weekly trip up to my business of 145 mpg one way and i had the opportunity to drive a captured fleet 07 Tahoe last November and got 23 mpg on the same trip in the winter. The lighter pickup will get as good or better mileage than the Tahoe as long as your not speeding or towing in a #1500 series.

I wish I could make it to the fair this weekend to see it in person, next week though. I really would like to know how the interior fits me. Im 6'6'' and comparing the classic silveradoes to new tahoes and suburbans is quite a change, I am wondering if they will have the same proportions inside as the suvs. My whole goal this year is to get out of a cramped jeep and not be 2 inches away from the roof. That said sitting in a tahoe i can raise the seat and be near where I am now in a jeep, but the current trucks seem more open and taller, could be apples and oranges so far. But my concearn the size comes from the fact that the inside does look very similar to what I see in the suvs. Saw a new tahoe z71 with wood trimmed interior and looked a little too nice to drive on a gravel road. There are some trucks out there because I work at the arlington plant and saw one drive by the day before it was in the newspaper at an exhibit for dealers to see. Last year they had a large buildup of the new tahoes that were held till they could be released in masses everywhere, im guessing there is there are already some sitting and waiting to be shipped.
