transmission shift 1999 vs 2001

I was wondering if anyone knew why the 1999 silverados shift so much differently than the 00 burbs, tahoe's and the 01 and newer silverados? Mine shifts okay.. but the 1-2 year model newer trucks have this exceptionally silky smooth power transfer from gear to gear that I envy. Mine has always shifted the same and never had any problems (oil always changed/flushed).

Why do you want a smooth shift? i want to feel the sharp, gear grabbing shift. A soft shift means more wear and heat build up.

Hmm let me rephrase-- its both smoother, quicker, and more seamless-- just pounds the gears right out. anyone?
