Ditched the X-Pipe

I have had 3 NBS ECSB trucks and had true duals on all them. On my 06 I put the X-pipe on it with my duals and it had lots of muffler drone. I thought since CC had a bigger cab it was probably causing the drone. Well I took the X-pipe off yesterday and the drone is totally gone!! Did I lose a little HP & torque? Probably but it beats the drone any day.

no mufflers--true duals

"True duals" is no indication of mufflers or the lack there of. "True duals" simply indicates two individual exhaust systems including catalytic convertor (Lemme guess you took that off too?) muffler and tail pipe. The lack of a proper muffler is likely the cause of drone, and annoyed neighbors and nearby motorists.

didnt want to start an exhaust debate. yes i have cats and nothing else. i have seen a ton of posts where people complain about the drone in the cab. i thought they might find it useful to know that if they got rid of the x-pipe they might also loose the drone as well....

It is because of folks like you that get noise abatement laws put in the books

The other questions is why the hell take off the mufflers? You didn't gain anything except an annoying noisy truck. I can bet if you put that truck on the dyno before and after you hacked up your exhaust you would find you LOST power.

If you were using an x-pipe, then would you really have true duals since the both systems cross? Maybe I dont understand something about this...?

My dad's running true duals on his 97 and it gives him nothing but problems.
