Putting Sirius in my truck

I was wondering the different methods of putting Sirius in my truck without changing the deck. If i change the deck, it will get stolen cuz of the area of my college.

1.Can i run it through my facotry bose deck?

if not

2. Can i have the receiver removable so i can hide or take it with me when im not in the truck?

or

3. Would it be possible to get one of those portable sirius receivers and get an extra input in my truck and run it throug that?(or through an FM transmitter, bad quality though)

thanks

I use FM transmitter with mine and the quality is great. I've got the Xact XTR8 that works kind of like a DVR meaning you can pause and record live programming. I love it and would totally recommend it.

I've been looking at Sirius and it looks like they have a docking station with some of their radios and there is also a casette adapter for the vehicle radio. Plug in a cable to the cassettte adapter and the Sirius radio, insert the cassette and you're done.

Most of their car radios have the ability to run a home system with a special boom box or just use the AC adapter and headphones.

I have the SIR-GM1 interface that they sell for $90 at Best Buy and Circuit City, and I'm perfectly satisfied. The radio works just like the factory XM does, except its Sirius.

You have several options with the sirius radios. I had the starmate in my truck for about a year, and finally upgraded to an Alpine unit, so I use the Starmate in my office and home. You can use the FM modulator, and mount the vehicle dock on the windshield, Or; You can get a cable to plug into the FM OUT plug, and then into the antenna plug. This wire will "piggy back" the antenna cable, so you still have "regular" FM channels. With the Bose deck, you may have an 'AUX' plug, that you can hook up the FM OUT to, I'm not familiar with those decks. Though, why you would want that, after hearing sirius, I have no idea! As far as keeping the radio away from prying hands, most, if not all of the radios are removable from their docks, and you can take them with you when you leave.

I went with a plug and play unit that suction cups to my window. The unit is an XACT Visor. Its compact and out of the way. Saved me from having to alter my factory radio. I mounted the unit the bottom corner of the windshield on the drivers side, works great and it out of the way

Hope this helps
