Narrower (!) tires

Yeah, I know there are plenty of posts around here about wider, higher tire mods. I'm actually trying a different tack -- same tire height, but narrower width for lower rolling resistance and higher mpg:

Stock for the 900 1/2-ton platform is 265/70R17's on 17x7.5 6-bolt rims.

The tried-and-true 3/4-ton setup is 235/85R16's on 16x6.5 8-bolt rims.

These two setups have very similar tire height. So...

I'd love to find a way to mount 235/85R16's on 16x6.5 6-bolt rims. I'm not having much luck finding that rim size in 6-bolt. Has anyone tried this? Would I have any hub clearance issues?

Any suggestions are highly welcome!

Thanks.

I use Toyo m55's in 255/85/16 they roughly translate to 33 inches tall by 10 inches wide.

These have been by far my favorite tire size for this truck. I started with the stock 245's then i went to 265's then 285's.

The 255's give me the ground clearance that I need and mileage is better than with the 285's.

I dont think anybody makes a 16.5 inch rim in six lugs but there are plenty of 16 in wheels available for your truck and I think that a 235/85/16 will work.
