Couldn't have said it better myself =)

Louisiana is great, except for a hurricane every now and then, and it does get too cold for my tastes sometimes. And the 70-80's motorcylce weather is more like 90-100.

I would say texas for economically-doing good financially, cost of living-low housing/tax/great paying jobs, BUT not for the hunting or fishing or the temps.

Hunting, ONLY if you either own a sizable "ranch" or know someone that does.

Fishing, HA! I packed my gear away and it comes out when I go out of state. It is cheaper to go out of state to better areas than to support the state with their unreal licensing fees and poor fishing.

Temps, HA! AGAIN. There are a very times when the temps stay in the 70-80's. The couple of months during the winter you are looking at temps typically below 70. Most of the rest of the year temps over 80 and many time well over 90 are the rule. Yes you do get some days where the temps are 70 - 80.

I am not bashing texas, have lived in this area far 10 years and that is my opinion. You "get used" to the goofy weather and temps. The people on the most part are very friendly, this is changing very quickly due to the influx of people from other areas of the WORLD.

I have raised 3 kids here, and they have gotten a good start. Higher education is much too expensive here. My 22 year old son goes to FAU in Florida becasue it is cheaper than going to any of the schools here. My 16 year old is looking at out of state schools there again because he can get more bang for the $ at an equivilent out of texas school.

Bottom line is Yes I live in texas but no place is perfect. There are good jobs here. You have to make a choice and there are trade offs. Unfortunately no place is perfect so it is a matter of priorities.

Agreed. Plus, if you live in the west side of the state, its not a far drive to the Rocky's, which is an awesome place to hunt/fish/quading (but I don't care much for the people). Oh, and Texas sure does know how to grow the women!

I know for sure that it definatly IS NOT Pennsylvania!!!

Not for the weather but you have to admit, Pa. is great for the four wheeler usage and the hunting and some fishing.

Methinks you've never been on the Brazos River.

Pretty obvious what my vote is.

Without a doubt, Montana (Except if you don't like cold winters :shakehead:)

Cost of living... I pay $700/month rent for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house, about 1,800 SF on a 5 acre lot. I'm minutes from some of the best hiking, fishing and hunting in the world. There is no sales tax, most government fees are low, and I can go months without seeing any sort of law enforcement. The town I work in is booming right now, they're desperate for employees. I'm making far more than I was making in Southern California, and have a much lower cost of living. Even McDonald's is paying $10/hour starting, with a signing bonus, paid vacation, and a 401k plan, they're so desperate for employees.

Not to mention, that this area is absolutely beautiful.

Where do I sign up? I live in Kansas and hunting fishing and just general outdoors is abundant anywhere. Taxes here suck but where I live the prices of houses arent to bad but if you get down into the bigger cities they are ridiculous.
