Where do you park?!

Hello all. First of all, im new, so let me say hello to everyone on this forum, you all have already helped a lot with my decisions before I even registered.

Now for the question. I have grown up on camaros and blazers, driven my fair share of long trucks, but never owned one. My family has a lot of land a few hours away in WV, and I drive the bigger trucks on our private property. I have been in the market for a new truck latley, and finally got one I like with low miles under retail value. I sign the papers on a 2003 Silverado Crew cab long bed 4x4 2500HD tonite. I already took a 25 mile test drive, no comlaints what so ever about the size but then I got to thinking. Where do you park these full size trucks?! They wont fit in a regular parking spot will they? I am going to have to park in the back taking up two spots correct?

Thanks in advance. BTW, I am a trained mechanic with a degree, trained auto body inspected by GM, and learned the car business from my father who has been a manager at dealerships for 30+ years, and I will be more than happy to answer any questions to the best of my knowledge.

I park in the back of lots because it's easier and I don't want any door dings or scratches. It pisses my g/f off that I park so far away. I can squeeze it into one space if I have to, but I don't try very often. My truck is an EC LWB.

If you really loved her, you would drop her off and pick her up at the front door.

As for the topic at hand...I park in the next zip code.

I try to be somewhat selective where I park. I usually take a look at the cars around me to see what kind of shape they are in (most people who take care fo their stuff will usually be courteous around other people's stuff). That being said, if there are parking places away from other vehicles, I usually park there if I'm in the truck, TBSS, or the T/A...... the Civic gets parked anywhere since the body isn't great anyway.

I am sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant to ask if a 2500 crew long box will fit into a parking space than I meant door dings. I dont mind the size but not many parking lots here are big enough for 2 spaces.

I'm also selective about where I park. One because I don't want any damage from inconsiderate people and two, because a cc, lb doesn't fit into normal spaces to good. Some tend to be deeper than others. Good example, I had to make a quick stop at a local drug store yesterday. There was a space open up front but it was in front of a light pole. I parked there and as I walked into the store, I looked to think "d**n, the truck's hanging out alot". I was only in there for 4 minutes so it was no big deal. I'd usually part on the far end where there is more room and/or less of a chance of someone parking next to me.

it's not necessarily the dimensions of the parking space being too small (although some physically are too narrow and/or short), it's the driving lanes in between that are too narrow and you can't swing out enough to turn into a space if there's cars parked all around.

I park in the "back 40" near a cart return. That way when I'm done I don't have to go far to put the cart away.

I don't understand why people have such an aversion to walking from their car to the front of a store. Ya see people driving up and down looking for that one close spot that just became available so they "don't have to walk so far", yet they will probably end up walking at least 3 times that distance once inside the store.

Agreed. I just park in the first spot that i like (which means no crappy car on either side of me). Angled parking is easier to get in/out of, and I find that backing into the straight spaces to be easier.

On a side note, i can't believe how many people cant parallel park their little civics while all the trucks I see are perfect...lazy a$$es.

I drive a car 90% of the time but when I go shopping in my ext cab/LWB truck I park in the portion of parking lots that are fairly empty and pull thru to the next space so I'm heading out.

I love parking in the back and watching the people drive around for 20 minutes trying to find the "golden space". Pulling into the parking lot right behind them, and getting to the store before they even find a spot. IDIOTS! I keep the truck as far away as I can, and at my apartment, I found the one space that is somewhat irregular in width. It's actually kind of angled, or trapazoidal, so it gives the fools on either side space to get in and out of their rice burners.

In mall parking lots, I park as far from everyone else as I can.

My regular cab C2500 LB doesn't fit into spots at work. I just park in the back and let the truck hang over into the spot in front of me. There is a CC LB dually at work that parks in 4 spots.

Exactly!

Your further ahead parking in the back near a cart return. Gets you in the store sooner and gets you out quicker with no door dings. I wish parking lots all had angled spaces.

Get a smaller truck. I have a freind who has a CCLB and hates it! The thing is too big!!!!! He can't park anywhere and is drinks gas. He is looking for an ECRB right now.
