oil change issues, got questions

I went to change the oil today in my 07 NBS silverado. It has 750 miles on it so I thought I'd do it. It has the 5.3 flex fuel engine. I bought the ac delco filter pf46, which is listed as the filter for the 06 5.3 engine, and it will not fit on the 07. I had an 04 with the same engine, and always used the pf46 filter. Is there a new filter for the 07 5.3? The one that came off the truck was a pf48. I go to the counter at the auto zone, and they do not list an ac delco filter for my truck, only a fram, stp, and purolator. I get the purolator, and it screws right on no problems. What gives? Also I go to wally world to get mobil 1 5w-30, like always. I just bought a 5 quart jug 2 months ago at the same store for 21.88. Today it's priced at 29.99. What is up with that, did mobil 1 drastically increase in price? I ended up buying penzoil supreme synthetic for 19.99 for the 5 quart jug. Just looked at the manual, it lists the filter as ac delco model pf48, is it different than the pf 46? Apparently so.

GM changed the filter for the 07 NBS. I hate to say it I do not mean this to be ugly, but I would suggest you go to a traditional parts store for your filters. The PF 48 is and has been avail for some time and we (CARQUEST) have it avail in CQ brand which is supplied to us by Wix. Our # is a 84060.

No harm taken, I went to two stores, auto zone and advanced auto, and neither had a pf48. plenty of pf 46 and pf 47.

I noticed that too, it really pissed me off.

Yep, just one reason why I switched to Pennzoil Platinum.

Yep when you go to autozone or advance you might as well go to walmart, the same same customer service!

You may be right, on the name. Can't remember now if it was penzoil supreme or platinum, I just know it read on the bottle as 5w-30 synthetic.

You may be correct. At auto zone, the girl at the counter was not very confidence inspiring, while the girl at advance auto actually sounded quite sure of herself, and seemed to know her stuff. I could not believe I went to two different stores, and both had females behind the counter, I thought that was great.

I work for a Mobil lube distributor and I can tell you we have not had a price increase on Mobil 1 since last November and it sure as heck wasn't that big.

I dunno what Wallys up to on that one.
