2007 Silverado Extended Cab, Longbed

Hi guys. I have a couple of questions about the new body style half ton (I was thinking that when I graduated high school that I could get a diesel truck, but one of these might be better).

Is there any way to put a front trailer hitch on one of these trucks(whether you have to cut any plastic or not)? The reason that I ask is because I am a hunter and want to get a portable winch system for the truck. Also, my dad has a mastercraft boat and to get it into the driveway, you need to hook it up to the front for a little more maneauverability(spelling :flag: ).

Another question that I have is: has anybody come out with any aftermarket accessories yet(I know they have lift kits, I'm talking about interior accessories, performance accessories, light bars, etc...)

One more: Is the 5.3 Liter a powerful engine by any means? Is it worth getting(its the biggest one available in the ext. cab longbed configuration)? Is there anything wrong with it(I know its reliable and proven, and I know that towing it will feel sluggish), I'm kind of asking a question that's hard to answer, but please, do your best.

I'd like to hear opinions too. Don't just limit it to the questions. I dont want to hear anything about money, I'm just a dreamer. If things work out, they work out. And if anybody has pics of a truck like this-extended cab longbed, that'd be great.

I mainly want to know about thew 5.3L motor and the reciever hitch thing.

I know some Ranch Hand grill guards have reciever hitch adapters welded in. My bro-in-law uses his for a front mounted deer feeder.

On the 5.3, I just test drove one w/3.42 gear ratio and it was pretty d**n quick. I tow a boat, so I am getting the 3.73.

Agree. If you tow, look for 3.73 or 4.10's. I have the 3.42 and wish I did. Thought 5000# would be fine behind a truck rated for 7100 with the 3.42, but it still needs some help.

i agree with Larry. I have a 4.8 with 3;42 and it would be fine if i had a 3;73 rear. I also had a 6.0 with 4;10 in a silverado SS and there is no comparision. But that being said the 5.3 with a 3;73 would be fine unless your looking to race.

I'm curious too if you asked the dealer maybe if you could get the Vortec MAX pasckage in a longbed extended cab truck. But as far as GM goes, they say you can inly get it with the crew cab shortbed, and the extended cab shortbed trucks. Somebody let us know though.

I currently have an 04 4x4 w/ 4.8 and 3.73. I tow a 6000lb travel trailer. No problems. Would likely be much better with the 4.10's but the fuel economy would be much worse.

It totally depends on what you will be using the truck for.

4.8 w/ 3.73 is a good combo for pulling Id say anything up to 5000lbs no problem, any larger engine and any lower gearing 4.10 could only be better.

How often are you going to be towing? If not that often or if your loads aren't that heavy, the 4.8 will be enough. The new truck coming in has the 6.0 and 3.73. Trailering wasn't the only reason for upgrading, I wanted to be competitive against my uncles Hemi.
