Can I amp my factory HU ?

My truck has a non bose HU, and it's hurting for sound.I'm not into real loud music just want to hear it over the wind noise when the windows are down. I was wanting to keep stock, just amp.what have with a small amp. I found this and thought it would work. http://www.jpcustoms.com/store/customer/home.php?cat=307 But I don't have a clue. I could use some help from you guys. Cost is not an issue, I just choose not to throw money at it. I'd like to keep it simple. I would however consider upgrading speakers later on. If this Amp Interface is what I need, then what size amp should I buy. Any help will be appreciated!

Man! and I thought I did'nt have a clue! At the time I'm writting this reply 18 people have viewed this post and didn't know what I needed either. I don't feel so bad now. If anyone else reads my original question and would like to add a reply you can,but you don't have to. See since I first asked I now know exactly what I need.

So Thanks anyway.

yes that will work and d**n that is a good price on that thing. i have the bose and i use it for the subs only. on the amp you can use whatever you want. 200w and up will be plenty for the stockers. once you do that you will want some bass!!

I'm interested in doing the same thing, but have a question.

Does the PAC interface in the link above only send the factory head unit signal to the amp (and then require separate wiring back to the speakers) or does it also interface the post-amped signal back to the factory wiring harness, too? I'm just trying to figure out if there is an easy way (plug and play) to send the amped signal back through the factory speaker wires without having to find the right color wires on the harness and splicing into them.

I've already replaced my factory speakers and added a single 10" sub with amp, but felt I still needed some extra oomph so the main speakers could keep up with the performance of the sub, which I've been really pleased with.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone have any idea if they make a PAC interface a non-Bose for the new body 2007 GM Trucks? Looks like JP Customs only has 2006 and 2007 Bose interfaces.

Yup...You're going to have to run more speaker wire from the amps back to the speakers. Unless you can fit the new amp somewhere inside the dash. I did that on my '89, but on the 99-06 trucks...There's a lot less room back there.

I keep hoping someone will integrate a decent amp into a double DIN head unit, but so far the closest anyone has come is 32WRMS per channel (I think it was Kenwood).

Yeah...but i would still prefer an external amp. Nothing like running a 3 way active setup.

you can put an amp in on the factory hu, its called a high input on the amp. or you can get a convertor that you plug you 4 speakers wires into and it outputs 2 phono plugs to plug into the amp low level input

Line Out Converter

Anyone know how these Line Out Converter compare to these AMP Interface that JP Customs sell? Are they basically the same thing?
