Suburban made in Mexico?

My dealer told me that my newly ordered Suburban 2500 is made in Mexico with a build week of 3-19-07. I assume all suburbans are not made in Mexico so how has GM split what has a USA made vs. Mexico made label? Are Tahoes made in Mexico as well?

Prepare yourself! I forcast quality oversights and reliability problems in your near future.

My '01 2500 was made south of the border, and it's been a good truck. I don't think you can generalize that it's crap just because it's made in Mexico. The first position of the VIN identifies the country of manufacture 1=US, 2=Canada, 3=Mexico.

Nice answer but not very productive or appreciated being that I just laid down 50k.

Better hope they build it bit better then those grand old highly non-reliable recalled V-DUBB's.

They do call them V DUB for a reason, 'cause only dub's would own one!

Hows that engine sludge treating you? How about those faulty brake lights?

I know there are one or two members that work at GM plants on this forum, perhaps they could shine some light on this. I'm curious the percentage of the vehicle that is "hand-crafted" and what is done with robotics. Obviously there are tons of things that require the human touch, but, I would guess that the process is trending toward automation.

My 2001 Suburban LS was built in Mexico. Havent had a single problem in 6 years. I also have a 2002 Tahoe that was built in Wisconsin. Its had to be taken in a couple for issues..

My '05 GMC Yukon XL 2500 was made in Mexico also. It seems as if all 2500 (3/4 Ton) Suburbans and Yukon XL's are made in Mexico as that is probably the only plant that builds them. While 1500's are made in the states. However, in Silao, Mexico (Where they build these vehicles) is one of the most modern plants GM has (so I have been told) A few dealer friends of mine have gone as far to say that you would rather have your vehicle built there as the plant is new and efficent and the Mexican Workers there take more pride in their work as they are happy to have a good paying job and don't want to jeopordize that. At any rate, all the parts are made in the US and Canada with a small percentage of other foreign parts. All the do in Mexico is put them together and that is done mostly by robotics.
