Why doesn't this stuff work?

I just tried to set my tire pressure monitor on my NBS 07 Sierra and it won't work! The horn chrips twice to start, I release air for up 30 seconds, then nothing happens. The DIC does nothing, the horn does nothing. I turn the ignition off and then switch it back to run and toggle on the DIC to "relearn tire positions". Could this have something to do with that gas gauge software update/recall? I just had the truck in at the dealer and they sent it the update. Did it mess it up? I guess it's going back to have them fix the tire pressure system if I'm not doing something wrong!

Also,

My clock didn't adjust to early DST. I'm in the eastern time zone. I have the SLE1 AM/FM/CD clock/radio. Is there an update for this change or are the clocks just manual-only? (I did end up changing it manually). I called OnStar for the heck of it and they said they didn't know.

Any help?

Thanks in advance!!!!

With the tire pressure monitor system, I think you have to drive the vehicle before it can detect a low tire. The system on my dads Aurora is set up this way. It has something to do with detecting a low tire because it is spinning at a different speed than the other three and it measure this with the wheel sensors, the same one's that the ABS uses to detect slippage.

No automatic DST adjustment that I know of.

cheers

I can't speak to all of the issues raised but I can say that the "relearn tire positions" is only for when you rotate the tires for the truck to then learn the new position of each sensor.

Let me know when you figure it out. 1 week ago the monitor detected a 10psi difference in a rear tire. I inflated it and it now displays the old incorrect psi still. I can't find any manual reset. Warning lights and chimes are still driving me nuts! The relearn function is only for tire rotation.

I haven't had the gas guage correction done yet. I guess it goes to the dealer soon.

The clock is manual. there is no auto setting.

After a tire rotation on my brother's Z71 suburban with the tire pressure monitor we had to start at a certain location and work in order stated by the manual. There were accouple times I had to start the same tire twice. There is also a certain sequence you have to do to start the tire pressure monitor relearn. It is all detailed in the owners manual (not saying you didn't follow the manual). We had one tire almost flat before the monitor picked it up. It was very wierd and you almost need two people.

About the DST the clocks in the radio do not automatically adjust for it. You have to manually adjust the clock for the DST change.

I have two 07' Escalade's, one does reset the tire pressure sensors by releasing air from the tires, the other would not, it would work on the first sensor but not after that, so I purchased a reset tool that works for all sensors from Bartec, didn't want to do that but I have different wheels and tires for the winter, and although my dealer will do this for free for me, that's a pain. I moderate several Forums and many owners report that the air release method does not work for many of them too. My clocks in my Escalade's need to be reset manually.

GUYS........Instead of running to the dealer to reset your tire pressure

sensors and progam. Try this trick I found on a Cadillac site.

Find a STRONG magnet (a old speaker magnet works) and run it

over the sensor on the valve stem.

Will dig up the procedure from the Caddy threads and post a link!

Magnet does not work on 07' models.

I went into the dealer and they said that basic DIC's do not show air pressure Psi readings for some reason. They said I wasn't doing anything wrong, it had already been programmed, however you can't tell unless one loses a ton of pressure! DUMB!!!!!!

Does your DIC display the "Front Left / Front Right" and "Rear Left / Rear Right" display for the tire pressures, but just without any values ("--" for each instead)?

If so, I'd call BS on your dealer. My LTZ Av DEFINITELY is supposed to read out the pressures. I had the service department rotate / balance the tires today, so when I started on the way home I decided to see what air pressure I had in my tires (they seem to always change it when I take cars in for this sort of thing). Keep in mind that there were none of the idiot lights or "Check pressure in .." messages in the DIC or anything else to indicate a problem. But there are two screens to show the actual tire pressures, roughly reading what I asked you about above. Since the rotation and a software update to address issues with early build 07 Avs and the remote keyless entry system my display now shows a pair of dashes for each tire! I though too it was something to do with the relearn, so (grumbling to myself, because this is WHY I took it to them to rotate the tires in the first place!) I took out my manual and read up on how to do it myself. After going through the relearn for my wife's remote (those were no longer recognized thanks to this reprogramming thing- the dealership addressed mine), I did the tires. I was fortunate enough to get the beep response for each tire telling me that it had read the sensor location and the double beep after the final tire (driver side rear) indicating it had saved the information. Because it took probably a 5-6 pound decrease in pressure, all four were now underinflated quite a bit. Enough that it triggered the DIC message for "Check tire pressure for.." blah blah blah for all four. After guaging them back up that went away. But there's STILL no reading for the amount it "sees". If it doesn't "learn" and correct itself between now and Monday evening, my service guys are seeing it again. It wasn't this way going in, and it's definitely supposed to SHOW the amount!

I don't know about you guys, but if I remember correctly. GM installed an item in the glove box that tells you how to do things. Its called and OWNERS MANUAL. It tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about your vehicle.
