Congrats! I wish they would make a Tahoe SS, i like the SSS but a pickup just doesnt make alot of sence for me.

The current truck doesn't look so bad to me....

Eager to see pics of the new truck though... I pick up my NBS w/ 6.0 Saturday. Should have ordered SLT instead of SLE. ugh. oh well, 30 months is a short lease.

Why would you trade in a nearly new truck??? That is like GIVING the dealer $$$$$ as a present!!!! You should have sold it yourself!!!

cut my interest rate in half, don t pay tax on the traded value, they took back a lease earily on a RollBack plan. Probably cost me $4K, can t take it with you

No, i waited for the 2500 Duramax and when it came in i drove it. I was impressed with the power only but not the ride . I ve had a 6.0 with 4;10 and a custom tune and it was pleanty of power for me. So I got the v max.Plus the extra cost of the 2500, I m not knocking the truck but it wasn t for me. The duramax is now sitting on the lot for sale.

You wont regret it, I just got my VMax, LTZ, it is one sweeeet truck. That VMax purrs nicely. I went w/ the 3.73 so it wont be just like yours, but close... I averaged 18mpg on the way home from work tonight too!

Ed, do you have a pcm tune yet? It made a big difference on my SS.

got my 07 tuned and it pulls alot harder now, also helped with mpg. I to had an SS silvy, and the power is very similar on the two vehicles, the ss seemed to launch alittle harder before the tune, but the nbs has more midrange power. 3,000-rev limiter pulls very hard. You definitely won't regret the swap.

Did you go with the max towing package then? Yeah imo 2500s and up are great for what they are made for hauling and pulling. But if that isn't your main purpose and its going to be your daily ride half tons will ride a lot nicer and get a little better on gas to boot. Although i guess the new 2500s have the 6 speed so that should help a bit. And if its just your couple sleds your pulling around the 1500 will have no problem with it at all. Too bad you just didnt go for it in the first place though hey. Go with another white crew? Anyone got a box cover on there 07s yet? Enjoy the ride.

yes, has the max tow package, 10,500 rating i believe, got another white, should look identical. Also tow a boat aprox 5-6000 lbs. I have a gm tonneau cover that I took off one to put on the other. Supposed to see tonight and take it tommorrow.

Yup thats the towing numbers wouldn't recomend 10,000 with a half ton haha but i'm sure it will pull your boat fine. Your payload will increase a bit as well gvw goes up to 7,200. How do you like your cats. Me and my dad got an m7 and m8 ride up in the mountains. There fun sleds realy like how they handle in the powder. Looks like the new rev is going to be the one to beat for sure though. But i never did like the old style rev didnt like the way they handled so maybe these aren't any better. Plus the doo 800s were breaking down a lot from what i heard. Only wierd thing is the last two trips of the year my m7 was out climbing his m8 and hes the better rider. Thought something might be wrong but talked a to a few people and they said that was pretty common actually.

I havnt gotten mine tuned yet, gonna wait a few months, get an oil change or two in her then do it. I'll probably go w. a Nelson PCM. For now im just bout to order a billet grille and floor mats. Prbably get a spray on in a week or two.

the Cats are good. f6 does 100 mph, and the Sabercat is a 500 so it s a little slower (but it s my wifes). The Revs are great over the bumps, you don t feel a thing while the cats you are always standing on the rough trails.

Called again today for the pcm tune and the guy will be coming up to north jersey in a week or two if anyone local is interested.

    • I'm suborn like that Ed. There's a plaque in my doctor office that says, "Don't quit, take a break." Works for allot of things.    Reality is, the wife loves her SUV and even given it's issues, she'd buy another if she found one with low enough miles. Then again she has me to maintain it.    Most of what ails this thing is GM shooting themselves in the foot and by extension the buyer. Besides a ridiculous breather system the cat warm up strategy, IMHO, is the dumbest thing I've ever seen an OEM do to a vehicle they warranty. On cold start it r-e-t-a-r-d-s the ignition to like -17* ATDC and dump fuel like kicking over a pail to force combustion in the CAT's for rapid warm up. This literally hoses the oil off cylinder walls and creates enough varnish precursors to stick rings in even well maintained engines. THEN if that wasn't bad enough they recommend using a wanting fluid specification at equally stupid interval.    Common to all GDI motors I'm aware of is this silly practice of driving the HPFP off the cam giving a leaking pump direct and unchecked access to the crankcase. And sir, eventually the ALL leak. Your job is to "catch it if you can". Yes, these are the same people that removed dipsticks from engines and transmissions in belief Joe Average wasn't capable of checking, reading and maintain his own vehicles fluids. Sadly  and in large they were correct. Most people these days can't tell a sparkplug from a fire plug.  Great ideas one and all.    Every move and every error calculated to defend themselves from the law and their own customers.
    • Most online suppliers and Amazon. All have noted "not for use with Bose speakers".
    • Very interesting thread. Definitely didn’t expect to see this kind of mileage out of that engine.
    • Just did an injector/HPFP replacement on Pepper at 192,400 miles; close enough to 200K, RIGHT? (If 200K is considered life end and to me it isn't). But hey, to each his own.    Have never run a catch can on this vehicle. Back side of every valve looked like a new valve spray painted semigloss black. Port walls looked 'neat' (all a normal result of passive EGR via VVT) Zero build up even in AFM cylinders. Just color. It uses no measurable oil and never has.    At 155,000 I put her on E-85 and a borescope of the cylinders at plug change showed very clean pistons and valve faces. The replaced injector tips looked new. (It was the pump piston seal that was leaking). Oh well, have six good backups.    Still gets 28 mpg on gas (highway average) and over 20 (highway) on alky. UOA's look good and runs as good now as it did when I bought it. Better in fact.    What improvement would a Catch Can provide this motor?     And given all this I expect that IF I installed one I'd see some water/gas/oil vapor accumulation. Byproducts of normal combustion.   Having said that, IF my motor used an appreciable amount of oil I'd consider it a useful 'crutch' until I had the situation corrected OR if bore polished, until I junked it or rebuilt it to stave off repeated plug fouling.    I'm not telling you what I THINK. But what its DONE.
    • Love the look. I'm a SCSB lover myself.    Two items. 1.) A spacer changes scrub radius but this also changes when we use wheels of different offsets. A little isn't a big deal. 2.) Steel wheels, alloy wheels all have different thickness. Same effect on the stud and lug nut as a spacer. When hub centric the wheel isn't supported by the stud. It's supported by the hub. The stud just keeps it all together.
