Identify Noise

07 nbs, v max/ with the key on accessory or the vehicle running with nothing on i hear a hum or motor running sound, very paint, coming from under dash or hood. my other 07 never did that. what could it be and is it a problem?

found the source, it s coming from the little speaker or mic above drivers head towards the left. i think it s the mic for the phone, on star... Now what s the problem, cause i hate trips to the dealer

If that's like the older trucks, that's the air temp sensor for the auto climate control. There is a fan in there to pull air across the sensor.

Found out today that is the mic for the phone/onstar. They had to order one, so hopefuly it s the mic and not in the wiring .

Rammer is right,it's the auto air inside air temperature sensor,also called aspirator due to it's function,pulls air via a small fan from near the drivers head area for the auto air to adjust it self for the driver,the mic for the onstar is part of the overhead console in between the visors.

I agree...it's for the climate control.

I had to have the one in my truck replaced the first few months I bought it in 2002.

you guys are all right. It s part of the auto temp control. The dealer has it on order cause mine is a little too loud. That s why I check here before I see the dealer.
