Allison Problems... Shift Range Inhibited.

I have a 2006 gmc 2500hd duramax slt. I was in some mud spinning my tires, the trans appeared to be getting warm, then it made a huge bang, (i think the bang was the truck coming out of 4 wheel drive though) I let the truck cool down, then when i put it in gear it will not do anything but rev up. (maybe move a tiny bit then rev up) (reverse works fine) If i rev up the engine in gear at all, it will say shift range inhibited, then the PRND lights will start flashing and the truck will not move. Any ideas? check engine light is on, code is p0700 transmission control module malfunction.

Try replacing the prndl switch on the side of the trans.

Sounds like you may have "limped" your tranny. If you clear the code it should run fine. Do you have Onstar?
