Onstar

I received a letter from Onstar Saturday telling be that they will be unable renew my contract this year and I will no longer have service after Dec 2007. This is all due to the new digital cell service and the fact the onld analog service will no longer be supported. My Yukon XL is a 2002 and according to the letter is analog and as of today cannot be updated.

It would be nice if GM were to offer some type of upgrade to digital service. I like having Onstar as this is my Wife's truck.

They did send a coupon good for an extra free year of Onstar if you bought a new GM vehicle. I told my Wife and kids to get ready, we were headed for the GMC dealer to pick out a new Sierra with the Max Tow package.

She did not go for it.

That sucks. We have a silverado w/ onstar but we never had it activated. I wonder if we can even get it activated now.

You can activate it now but not by contract. They will do a month to month only through Nov of this year.

I finally activated mine and it's ok so far. I used it for diagnostics when the light came on at 1900 miles.

This is strange as I thought I received a letter in the mail late last month saying that my '04 Sierra could be upgraded with new hardware for $15 ? I may be mistaken because I paid it little attention as I had already purchased an '07 Z71 SLT Classic !

The 03+ trucks can be upgraded, alas the 02 trucks (like mine) can not be upgraded... according to GM and onstar.

Well at least you got onstar haha. My truck (2006 2500hd LT2) did not come with Onstar OR XM. I did get a big rebate for that so can't complain much ha. My grandmother's Trailblazer does have Onstar and she likes it for whatever reason.

I wish i had a onstar system in my truck, but the previous owner...grandfather was cheap on that part-he opted out of the extra electronics...bose, onstar, xm and so on.. cd and 4 speakes for me..

Yeah, well I saved over 10k by getting a leftover. I'd rather spend 26k rather than 37k (technically I'm still paying more cause I had to pay off the Colorado and use it as a trade in). I may end up wrecking this bastard soon cause it's starting to cost too much and I may be looking for another job soon and I can't really afford 120 bucks a week in gas plus this ridiculous payment.
