Truck Sales

Some interesting data, a few things jumped out at me...

Ford F-Series and Ranger are down a bunch compared to last year.

GMC and Chevy have the only full-size pickups that have sold more this year than last year. (i wonder if some buyers were holding out for the gmt-900) (also in fairness Dodge has pretty much held even)

The truck that self proclaims to revolutionize the industry (Tundra) sold 11% more units last year. With less than 30,000 sold at the end of March, I wonder if their goal of 200,000 units per year is obtainable?

The Titan just plain sells poorly.

Ford, even in the slump it is in, continues to sell an impressive number of Full size trucks.

well considering the Tundra didn't hit the showrooms till Feb, that figure is only for 1 - 1.5 month of sales.

That's a good point that I didn't consider...but still, 13,000 units sold in March is nothing to write home about.

The new Tundra has only been out for 1-1.5 months. The old Tundra was still there.

Maybe it's just my math.....but if you add up the Silverado and the Sierra sales, GM beats the crap out of Ford. They're basically the same truck, so they should be lumped together.

GM as a whole has outsold Ford almost every year in the past 30 years ford has had the top selling truck. This year however, is the closest the silverado/F-150 sales have been in a long time. It's possible the Silverado could unseat the F-150 by the end of the year.

Ford also does alot more fleet sales than GM. They basically almost take a loss on fleet vehicles, so I think alot of their numbers come from fleet and not private sales.

The bloody things only have a 47% residual value at three years.....it cetainly isn't a lease incentive!

Jesse, Jesse, Jesse, you have not been listening to the Toyota advertisements and reading the media hype that surrouned this truck before it was introduced. If you did, you would know the new Tundra would be "Changing the Truck World" and would soon be the leader in half ton truck sales.

Yea right!!! They will be changing the truck world like Nissan did with the Titan. I predict they will certainly have a bigger impact than the Titan but I will go back to what I have said all along. They better pack their lunch because they are entering a market where the consumer base is not made up of "yuppies" who are enamored with the idea of driving an import as with the car market. We, "real truck drivers" typically do not concern ourselves with impressing our friends with the most recent trendy and popluar fads.

If you cannot tell, I am a fan of "American Iron". :tear: I really have no issue with someone driving an import vehicle if that is really what they want, but just don't tell me that you had to buy an import because American cars and trucks are not up to the quality standards of imports. :banghead: This simply is not true.

Man, I feel better.

They'll get their 200K per year volume.... but I hope they're not expecting more than that. Who knows, we may all find out in a year or two that the Tundra's trannys suck and the motors blow headgaskets or pop timing chains :D

Maybe the ball joints will hold on this truck?
