Question About Stock Radios

I have a question about 03-up stock GM full size truck stereos. I know the radio is programmed with the vehicles VIN number in order to work. Question is, if you put a stock stereo from a different truck in what on the truck needs to be programmed to make that radio work? The BCM?

when programming how do i get the new radios vin to work in the truck? How do i get the radio from the other vehicle to match my vin?? Enter a new vin when SPS asks for it?
