Sqeaking Belt

Recommended Posts

The belt on my 04 Sierra 1500 is sqeaking mainly when I turn. It isn't that bad but annoying none the less. I check the tension and condition of the belt and everything seems to be fine. I also tried belt dressing, but that didn't work worth a darn. Any suggestions as to why I may be getting this? Thanks

Check the tensioner or other accessories running off the belt for bad bearings. Can sometimes mimick a loose belt.

My belt squeaked too so I replaced it with a Goodyear "Gatorback" belt which was recommended by other GM truck guys, no more squeak :banghead:

As mentioned above it could be a dry bearing in an idler happened on my Corvette. I was able to pull it apart pop the dust seal off repack with grease and now the squeal is gone.
