Do You Ever Have The Debate...

I'm a GM tech at a huge Buick-Pontiac-GMC-Cadillac store. And it seems that every day, I have this little debate going on in my head.

Keep what I own now, or move-up to a New-Body style '07 Sierra.

???? Many times a day. Simply ????

If I *would* make a move, I know it would totally be a screaming deal. The owner of the store and I are great friends, amongst working together daily. He ALWAYS throws me these super-deals that other dealers would call "crazy"

Here's what I own: 2006 Sierra, SLE-2 loaded, 5.3 B engine 310 hp, Z-71 extended cab, and this is my daily driver. It now has only 2,955 miles on it. Absolutely perfect shape.

I walked the lot the other day at lunch, and noticed a few NBS trucks that I liked. They were all Ext Cabs, 4x4, and equipped with at least SLE-2 packages. We even had a Vortec Max Ext Cab 4x4 that stickered in the $36xxx range; it had SLT trim.

Do I truly NEED a pickup truck?? Honestly, the answer is no. But I have owned Sierras and Silverados from the following years: 2001, 2002, 2004 and now my 2006. I just prefer the advantages of a truck...I sit a little higher, it is versatile, and I have the ability to tow stuff around if I need to.

So...then I think to myself...why throw away thousands of dollars to upgrade?? My 06 is paid off. I own it. And it only has under 3000 miles on it.

But then I go on test drives...and see the rows of Sierras...

Why can't people be happy with what they own? Why do people always have to have the latest and greatest? This is why our society is so d**n wasteful. When I did my tour in Iraq, you should see the jalopies they drive over there. I'm being a bit of a hypocrite here, but i had to say this.

Buy the NBS. I agree I had a very nice 04 Silverado. But the new ones are night and day compared to the old. I did the same thing you did to many test drives and ultimately wanted to take the dive. I got a good deal on the truck I have now. You only get to live once man.

On the other hand though it is real nice to have a truck paid off.

Josh

Buy the new truck and sell what you have got, yourself..... Just imagine the amount you could sell a 2 year old 3000 mile mint condition truck for.

See...you are right. I *am* happy with what I own. I'm not trying to be a jerk or whatever...I'm just talking about what runs through alot of our heads.

I have a passion for cars and trucks. Just about all of my spare time has something to do with vehicles. Buying, selling, fixing, etc...it is what I do. I have been a total enthusiast for almost 20 years.

I'm just debating about a one-year upgrade, that's all.

A simple upgrade is what runs through millions of Americans heads, while are landfills fill up with working computers, tvs, ipods, cellphones, vehicles, and everything else because its last years model. Meanwhile, the average American's credit card debt inches higher and higher. People in other countries wonder where they will get their next meal, and we are thinking about our new 50 in TV. Messed up isn't it.

sell the 06 yourself and maybe thats enough for an 07 with a "crazy" deal.

i personally plan on keeping my 02 until a soccer mom on her cell phone totals it

I'm with you. The only way I will be getting a new truck anytime soon is if someone else wrecks mine (cause I sure ain't gonna do it!!)
