1999 K2500 4x4 (14 bolt rear), drum e-brake.

Found they are gone, not holding etc. The initial inspection suggests that I have to pull the half shaft to work on these shoes. Is that right or am I missing something??

A little closer inspection finds the dust shroud rusted, and that appears to be part of the backing plate for the e-brake assembly. Can you purchase the whole assembly or do you have to buy the parts (baking plate and the brake shoes and hardware?

what is a half shaft? If you have a full floating rear end then you have to pull the axles to get the rear drum off. you have a 2500 so yes, if a half shaft is the axle then yes

do you have discs in the rear? if so the parking brake shoes are expensive, and very small, don't know if all parts store carry these you gotta check. If you have drum rear then the shoes should be readily avail. Backing plate mmmmm probably dealer
