Gm Really Screwed Up...

I paid attention to GM National rebates, DURING and AFTER this recent "Transformer" sales event.

Sale ended July 9. Look at some of these rebates.

During Sales Event.

2006 Sierra Extended Cab 6000 rebate

2006 GMC Yukon XL 8750 rebate

2006 GTO 3000 rebate

2007 NBS Extended Sierra 1500 1750 rebate

NOW, after the sale... I checked today. What a bunch of BS...

2006 Sierra Ext Cab 5000 rebate

2006 Yukon XL 6000 rebate

2006 GTO 2000 rebate

2007 NBS Ext Cab 1500...now "up to" 2000 nat'l rebate.

What a bunch of bull. Personally, I was really hoping that GM would BOOST the rebates after a big sale, SO THEY COULD SELL MORE VEHICLES!!!

I was getting ready to possibly make a move and upgrade...well, not anymore. And, they only boosted one rebate...the NBS trucks...but only by $250?? Come on...

How did they screw us? They had a sale with some pretty good rebates and then after the sale the rebates were less. That is why they call it a SALE, because the deals are better than during this time, not after the sale. Don't worry, there is always another sale around the corner.

Agreed. That's how sales normally work. Of course, there is always Labor Day coming up at some point...

How did the general public get screwed>>

Think about it.

Anybody that bought a new GM TODAY instead of YESTERDAY /

Well, whatever.

I guess I'm just really disappointed on what happened with the rebates.

It's not getting screwed it's a SALE- do you get upset when a Captain Crunch is on sale one week but not the next? That is how a sale works.

The product is still sound... If a measley $500 is the reason you aren't buying a GM, then you weren't really sold on a GM in the first place.

I bought mine before the July 4th sale and after the memorial day sale... and getting the truck when I wanted it and when I was ready to buy it was worth waiting 2 weeks for another sale and saving $250. Who cares.

I would also have to agree that the whole idea behind SALE is to get people there during the sale for good incentives... I wouldnt go to sears to buy wrenches or something the day after the sale was over, knowing that i wansnt going to get them at a SALE price... I guess one could always ask if they would still give them the better deal but i wouldnt bet the piggy bank on it

Don't even go there. I have bought and sold 47 vehicles.

46 of them GM.

And yeah, $500 is alot of money to me.

Isn't these type of topics suppose to be in the Off-Topic section?

Add me to list of; 'I don't see what the problem is'

GM had a sale with stated terms of rebate amounts or financing terms and when the sale period would end.

Most dealers are closed on sundays, thus GM compensated by ending the sale on a monday.

98, you've even posted that you were paying close attention to the sale. You wanted to buy but didn't, ooohhhhh now I see where GM is completely at fault and playing dirty because they are fully responsible for your actions or in-actions in this case.

My resale value is pleased that they aren't having a fire sale on the GM trucks these days. The higher the rebates, the higher the perception the product is crap. Everyone who buys a vehicle would love to get it for next to nothing but that just isn't the way it works most of the time. Just save a little bit longer and you'll probably be more comfortable making the purchase anyway. Hell. they could have a $5000 rebate next month. Who ever really knows with GM.

Playing with incentive packages is like rolling dice in Vegas or guessing the stock market. You snooze, you lose. You play, you pay. Here's what I did. I went to my trusty GMC dealer and told them to find me a loaded GMC 4x4 truck in the dealer network and gave them the options I wanted. If they didn't find one with cash back incentives, the deal was off. They found seven trucks, I reviewed the options on each and I picked out the one I wanted. It was available at the other dealer on a new vehicle trade/trade and I had the truck in eight days WITH $3250 cash back AND 0% financing. Could I have done better? You ALWAYS can do better. Did I want to wait and roll the dice in September when model colors and options are diminished? No. GM's 72-year-old Vice Chairman Bob Lutz, in an interview about GM's global position in the marketplace, said incentive packages allows too many GM vehicles to sit unsold while buyers wait for an adventageous buying position. He said look for GM to offer a reduced MSRP on 2008s and less incentives. I bought now and am not looking back.

Just recently there was huge $ 7,000 rebate on new '07 Nissan Titan trucks. This happened becuase they came out with the '08 model early and dealerships were still flooded with unsold '07s. So, a typical discount on a new '07 Titan was $ 10k off the sticker, which is a really good price. Then, as more vehicles sold, Nissan lowered the rebate to $ 3,500 in the middle of the month without warning.

All manufacturers play these rebate games, depending on unsold inventory.
