I was taking apart my e-brake because the shoe on drivers side is bad and making noise and tried to take the screw out for the clip and the head snapped right off. How do I go about taking it out?? Do I have to pull the whole axle out or is there another way? Also can I run it w/out the shoe in? I never use my e-brake and was just wondering if that is an option for the time being. Thank for the help in advance but HELP!! Thanks all.

Are you talking about the screw that holds the top part of the e-brake shoe in place?

It's on the drivers side, so it is on the bottom. Any ideas on getting it out? Pull the axle shaft or somehow do it differently? I would like to leave the axle shaft in if possible. thanks for the help!!

What I was talking about is at the bottom. Mistake.

the only thing you could do with out replaceing the backing plate, is drill out the old screww and put in the same size or a little bigger screw.

Thats what I want to do. However the axle shaft is right in the way. I was wondering if I could pull the axle flange off if I would have enough clearance with a drill and a easy out or not? What is your opinion? Thanks!

How much of the screw is sticking out?

None. It is broke off flush on the axle flange.

The shoe was pretty well used up on the bottom side of the shoe. Does that mean it needs some adjustment or something else? The clip was not broke off, I was just trying to take it off to get the shoe off because the shoe was pretty much had. Thanks for the help!

does it stick out on the back side of the backing plate

No. It seems to only go part way in there. That's why I'll have to get the bearing flange off and go from there, I guess and see if it will move enough to get a drill and easy out in there. Thanks.
