The Best $159 I Ever Spent!

Yeah....I finally got it installed after my crazy work week.

I don't know what happened, but someone stole my 5.3 and replaced it with an LS2 :withstupid:

I told Jesse I wanted maximum power with best shifting, nerfed torque management...The most power possible on 87 octane. I'm glad I decided to go all out instead of an econo tune. I s**t you not when I hit second gear it's like an afterburner lights up after the shift. I really never experienced anything quite like that outside a manual car. Get this, I could not EVER get 2nd gear past 60-65 mph before. I can get 2nd gear past 80mph now with 3.73 gears this thing is a rocket on the highway. The best before was a doggy 3rd at 70 where I lost most races coming out of 2nd gear.

It was worth the wait to get one of these things... I called my brother-in law up on the highway and said, "You hear that? That's the sound of my 5.3 revving up to 5900rpm!".

I dont know much about tunes in gas engines but, how much extra h.p. did you gain?

I don't know probably 15hp- maybe 25 at the most, but the most noticeable thing was the removal of the nanny s**t in the PCM that was holding it back, on top of the improved shift points.

Good to hear that you had a good experience, all of the "big brother" safety things that they put in the trucks now really can hold them back.

I hear ya man. Love those custom tunes. More power is nice, but it's even better when they remove some TM and other GM "abuse management" features. I mean, what good is all this power if ya can't use it? :withstupid:

What do you think you'll be losing in gas mileage assuming you can keep your foot out of it?

I bought a PCM from Jesse and had it tuned for the economy tune. I'm thinking of sending it back and having him turn it into a screaming meanie! :withstupid:

Technically you should see an improvement in gas mileage with all of his tunes - depending how how ya drive it. You would just get more mileage gains with an economy tune than with a performance or "max tune." Just have him put 3 tunes on an SCT handheld so you can switch between economy & performance tune whenever ya feel like it.

Otherwise, go with a performance tune!

Sounds great, what is your top speed now? If it will do 80 in second, i can only dream of what it could do in 3rd and 4th if your on it the whole way!!!! Also, could you take a vid of your instrument cluster to demonstrate what it looks like from like a deadstop to a good speed, want to see how much of a difference that will do in a acceleration. Really interested in the wait4mes. I can pretty much guarantee if I got a tune like that my MPG would sink badly because my foot would always be in it, but you only live once so might as well have fun while your still here lol

The governor is gone. I had it them just remove it. I would never ever test it on a public road, but I would at a race track which is why I had it removed. I don't want it shutting me down at the track if I ever got it past 98.

Here's a quick 0-60 vid I made. As you can tell I spun a bit at the start but I still was able to get hair under 7 sec.

The truck is a 2000 5.3L 4x4 ext cab with 265 tires @50psi and 3/4 tank of 87 gas. The truck has 132K miles.

Here's a 70-80 vid showing off the new 2nd gear shift.
