Onstar-xm Antenna Swap?

Recommended Posts

I've got an 02 Silverado w/ the OnStar option. Since the system is becoming obsolete I'm thinking about getting rid of the OnStar antenna and putting a factory type XM antenna from an 03 or later in it's place. Has anyone made this conversation? I'm not even sure if the roof lines are the same. Perhaps there is another roof type antenna (XM or Sirius) out there that I can use as well since I already have a hole in the roof. Any comments would be much appreciated.

The roof lines are either very close or identical so I don't see why it wouldn't work. For the record, I've heard several times that Onstar will update your onboard system to digital for little or nothing. Have you investigated that?

Does anyone have info on this? I have an 02 Suburban with OnStar and would like to upgrade it.

Yeah go to https://www.myonstar.com/adt.os and enter your complete VIN into the field and it will tell you if your model can be upgraded to digital, may have to head down to the dealership for some hardware swap if your vehicle is compatible.... hope this helps
