Factory Auxiliary Input Options?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for auxiliary input options for my '06 Yukon Denali w/ Nav & Bose. The problem is that I already have XM, Rear DVD, and 6-Disc CD changer installed from the factory. The standard aux input connectors I've seen won't work with this setup. And now I'd like to have a place to plug in my Creative Vision M Mp3 Player (nope, it's not an iPod).

I did recently find this, but I've never heard of it and I'm not quite sure how exactly it works. Has anybody tried this? Or have any other options/suggestions that don't involve replacing the HU. Gotta keep it dealer/warranty friendly.

Trash the XM...it sucks anyway. Its better to listen to your MP3 player anyway...that way you can listen to the song you want when you want. Not sure if this would free up a aux line though.

Agreed, Satellite radio sucks. I actually never even use it. If I wanted to listen to low quality compressed audio I'd just burn my MP3's in the lowest possible quality and turn down the bass/treble settings on my HU as low as they go. :D

But does anybody know how to disable it and if doing so would "free up" another input? If not, I am curious to try that other adapter that claims it uses the "band" button and will work regardless of how many inputs you have.

I use an iPod adapter from peripheral that has an aux port similar to the one that you described. The only differnce is that mine adds support for the ipod and aux port, where this one should give you just an aux port. It should work just fine.

Just an update to this post. I decided to purchase the AUXGMV3, got it installed, and it works great. CD Quality sound, no background noise (wired it directly to battery), and works perfect. Since I have the CD Changer/XM installed, it is a bit odd how you have to access it.

Select XM, press Seek Up 3 times, then down 1 time rather quickly. Then it switches to the Aux input. But it remembers what you had it set to even after the vehicle is turned off/on. To get out of that "hidden mode," press Seek Up/Down once, and it's back to normal XM. Not that I'll be doing that much.

BTW, if you don't have both XM/Changer installed, then you would use the Band button or CD Changer button just like all the other adapters. This is just the only one that'll work if you have all the factory options.

I seem to be having a similiar, but completely opposite problem. I have a 2003 GMC Sierra and I purchased the AUX input adapter. The problem is that the truck does not have XM nor OnStar nor CD Changer, but yes, it does have the AUX button and the BAND button. However, when I install the adapter nothing happens as I press either button. I took it to a couple local Car Audio Shops and they said it wouldn't work with no XM or CD Changer. My question is: Are these guys full of balogni or do they just not know the series of buttons to press???

You shouldn't need to have one connected as long as you've got the correct connection at the back of your HU. And as long as you don't have the base am/fm radio, it should be there. Just needs to have power directly to the battery and a good solid ground (ie. fuse panel box). You should also make sure the jumper in the box is set correctly.

This site has some good info. If it still won't work, just call up Soundgate tech support.

Okay I have the 05 with On star, XM, in dash 6 disc and rear seat audio, I have the AUX2CAR that I pulled out of my other car and was going to get the PXHgm3 to hook in my aftermarket DVD but it says all over the place that the PXHgm3 will not work if you have any of the options I have. You are saying that it worked for you. I dont suppose you saw the install it seams that must have had to patch in some wires as there is only the one 12 pin plug on the back of the HU.

Not sure about the other adapters you have, but the AUXGMV3 works just fine regardless of what factory accessories you have. I've got factory XM, Onstar, 6-disc changer, and Rear DVD. This unit is basically a pig-tail type adapter that goes in-between the 12-pin cd changer/XM cable.

Just make note of how you need to access the aux adapter from what I described earlier as that's the only way it'll work if you have all the accessories installed. Not that big of the deal - but we don't exactly have a whole lot of options.

Okay got it, see I have the AUX2CAR by peripheral and the GM harness is part # AUXGM3 so I thought you had put an X in by mistake. I have now located the one you have by Soundgate and will order one up. Thank you! I did print your post as to how too thanks
