Ywo Different Audio Inputs For Front And Rear On Yukonxl

Is there any way to install an aftermarket dvd player into an 03 YukonXL that has a Bose head unit and rear audio controls on the center console, in such a way, that the rear speakers use the dvd player as their input and the front speakers play radio, cd and then be able to switch it back so all speakers play dvd. I noticed I can switch the rear audio off with the console controls so a relay could probably be installed and wired for this purpose. Anyone ever done this or is there an adapter avail. for this? Thanks

I think I can see what you are trying to do but don't think it would be very practical. ACtually I think the rear speakers cut out when you use the headsets for the DVD. That is the most pratical way since the front and rear seats are much too close to allow for different listening through the speakers. There's just no way that the front passenger and driver wouldn't hear the DVD which wold lead to raising the front volume and that would interfere with listening to the DVD.

 

You see where all that would lead. I'd say stick with headphones that cut out the rear speakers.
