skidoo18 Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I was wondering if anyone has the engien options for 2008 gmc sierra truck. Thanks, Mike
04silverado1500 Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 6.0L gas 6.6L diesel as far as i know...there used to be the 8.1L but its discontinued theyre talking about putting the 7.0L in them out of the corvette....now that would be something to talk about. but thats not for awhile
Ranger Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I doubt they will put a LS7 in a heavy duty unless it was extremely modified...The LSX motors are meant for performance vehicles and tend to be high horsepower, while work truck motors are high torque.
04silverado1500 Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 they could easily change it look at the 5.3L it was in trucks for years now its in the grand prix GXP impala ss montecarlo SS its possible it puts out 303 HP and has les torque then the truck version
Daubs Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I seriously doubt GM will add any engine choices to the HD's any time soon. The 6.0 with 6speed tranny is rated to pull good amount...much more than the 6.0/4spd was rated when I got my truck in 04. And with CAFE standards and all this banging on drums about MPG / oil prices / etc., I'm guessing we will never see the 8.1/Big Block back in light duty trucks (HD's). Sad.
tbyrne Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 GM needs a nice sport truck. That motor or... that motor with a supercharger would be sweet!!! I think my alarm just went off. Time for me to wake up! Tom
