Hypertech Max Power Tuner

Recommended Posts

Anyone have one of these tuners. I just ordered one based on the fact that I don't care about the data logger like the edege evolution has. I am also interested in seeing the difference on the mileage numbers being posted between the edge and the Max power. I will post info as soon as I receive it and install the tune.

Well, it has the exact same tune as the Power Programmer III that it's replacing. So you can pretty much expect whatever changes/improvements folks got with that tuner. However, given how much mileage results vary between various drivers and vehicles, I doubt you're going to find any reliable or relevant info to really compare any tuner for mileage. If you want better mileage, I'm sure you've seen the million posts and articles explaining the obvious things you can do to improve gas mileage.

But it shouldn't be too hard to find feedback on the Hypertech since it's been around for quite awhile. Of course, most posts you find are just going to sugg getting a custom tune anyways. :)

I am in the process of returning the Max Energy as I type...it made my 04 Silverado 4.8l ping horribly. I received the programmer last night, programmed the truck with the reg. fuel tune and drove around the mile section; sounds like a bunch spray paint cans rattling(?) under the hood.

Thankfully Hypertech is taking it back and I am purchasing the DiabloSport Predator with fingers crossed that it won't make my truck ping worse than the Hypertech, but at least I will be able to change fuel curve and timing if it does.

I have the new hypermax tuner installed on my 99 s-10 4.3 and in my oppinion the truck feels more responsive in mid range 2100-3200 than with out it. I also installed an msd ignition box and it helped low end and mid range even more. i get an average of 21 mpg and the truck is seldom driven easy.

also truck only runs on 93 octane and octane boste

Just installed the 87 Octane Diablo U7194 tune in my "J" 5.3l Sierra (NBS).

Love it. Scratched the rear tires from a start the first time I hit it.... :uhoh:

BTW, the latest U7194 Diablo tune, -8r07, I believe adds support for the 4.8 V8 ...

My plan is to burn off the 87, reload with 91, retune with the 91 tune, and see if the potential MPG increase will pay for the premium gas....
