Now that I know I can add an Info Center to my 2007 NBS Rado with ease, can I also add remote start from GM Parts with factory key fob with ease? I dont want an aftermarket one Id like the one from GM.

So if you have the correct RPO you just need to purchase the fobs and have the computer re flashed? there is no actual work needed done to the truck. Just checking to make sure I understand this cause I hate to see my dealership having to cut into my wires. I wouldnt even let them change my oil.

You can buy the parts from GM or GM Parts Direct websight The link is http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm?s...number=17801236 When you order that you get a envelope with 2 fobs, Instructions that have a code on it and a sticker to put with the RPO codes in the glove box. I bought that on my own from the dealer with a employee discount. But the same thing through GM Parts Direct was a little cheaper. I have actually bought from them before. Everything is new GM parts. I took the truck and the envelope to my dealer yesterday. They charged me $70 to flash the computer. The biggest time consumer is the tech waiting for GM to call them back with the authorization code. But thats it nothing installed in truck. But you must have the AP8 RPO code listed. Its in the glove box to the left of the latch. Hopefully that helps.

Thank you. I am not familiar with any of this technology. Is something attached to the vehicle? A module? Is there any welding, screwing, bolting, or otherwise putting something on the engine?

There is nothing attached to the truck. It is already installed in your trucks computer. They just hook up there computer and basically turn it on. But again look in your glove box left of the latch you will see a list of codes make sure AP8 is listed.

GM PART # 17801236

CATEGORY: All

PACK QTY: 1

CORE CHARGE: $0.00

Thanks for the link and information. I still need some clarification.

Does this FOB remote (sold in pairs) replace the original factory remote for the power locks etc? Or can one keep the original factory remotes to still unlock the doors - therefore having 4 handheld remotes - two to start the vehicle and the two original to unlock the vehicle.

Thank you.

Does anyone know how it works on the older trucks like 99-02? Id love to have a factory remote start.

It DOES NOT work on an OBS. The only vehicles the remote start accessory works on are most new GM vehicles from about '06 on, that already have remote start as a factory option--but didn't happen to get it. As said, in those, it's already "there" just needs turned on and new remotes.

For an OBS, just as any other car, you simply need to get an aftermarket system. There are several great choices, and if done by a good shop, everything will still look and operate like it's OEM, aside from the new fobs and such.

Sorry, I should have stated 06 and above. Ones that do have the correct mentioned code in glove box.

My questions still stand.

Does this pair replace the existing FOB unlock door? And can the existing FOB still work to open the power locks?

And then again, I should ask, do all new 2008 have this code or only the 2008 that are ordered with the remote start have this code in glove box?

In other words, any 06 or above, do they all have the code in the glove box?

Just before you order read the and make sure you have the rpo code I think it is AP8

I have a Pricing Summary for a 2008 regular cab. I see no AP8 listed. Is this where to look for the AP8?
