2008 Rebate

September 2008

For those who are looking at new trucks, both GMC and Chevrolet are now offering a $500.00 rebate.

And from what one sales manager advised me, this rebate is going up.

I am ordering a vehicle so existing leftover rebates do not effect or affect my purchase.

I believe that rebate has been out for awhile... but my question is, now with this strike what is going to happen to the rebates after the strike is over? Will the strike affect them and will they go up? I have been waiting/watching for the rebates to change. My truck was scheduled to be built this week and now this happens

Where's your truck being built? I don't think the strike affects Canada or Mexico, so it still should be built assuming the factory has enough parts. Not sure if UAW is involved with delivery.

I am going to the dealership today to find out where, they never mentioned it. Even if its in Oshawa i read on another forum they only have enough supply for 3 more days(whether thats true or not who knows)but it makes sense since they receive parts from the US... so if this strike goes longer than a few days any plants outside of the US will not be able to continue building.

I think all of Canada CAW is honoring the work stopage.

But is there a way to find out which plant is making an ordered truck?

It depends on what style truck you order. I ordered a GMC ext. cab which is built in Pontiac Michigan, Oshawa Canada or the Fort Wayne assembly in Indiana. I emailed GM over the summer and asked where there trucks were built, they send a list of all the assembly plants.

By the way, i stopped at the dealer today and found out my truck was pulled into the line last week. So it looks like its sitting there.. either completed or near completion. Dang, does that suck...

Guess your ahead of me... Ordered mine last Tuesday or so... My dealer was waiting on 15 units and it was hurting him bad. Small dealer. I am hoping my paper work was delayed slightly and the build week is down the road some. I will wait as long as the truck is right.

Good news that they should be in production today (Wednesday 2nd shift, from what I read).

Good luck with the new truck.

I actually ordered mine Aug. 31st, so it took a good 3 weeks before it was put in to be built. I also hope if it was built in the US it was already finished but i dont wanna think that it wasnt built right just cause it may have stopped on the line. I am very happy they are back to work though...

Thanks, good luck with yours too

I think certain models are manufactured in certain plants. Like the 4 door made in one plant and maybe the extended cab made in another.

Someone might have access to this information. What plants make which models.

I would like to be able to pick the manufacturing plant. Impossible, I think, though.
