I'm looking to purchase a reliable 4wd truck in mechanically sound condition. I'm just looking for something to go hunting in. Must run very good, and all accessories must work (AC heat, wipers, etc)

Year pretty much doest matter, neither does size. I'll take an S-10, or a full size chevy or GMC. Preferably something around $3500 or under. I'm in northwest Louisiana. or even a nice 4wd atv...I need something that I can drive very far off the beaten path to go hunting.

How much more? My guess would be he wants at least 7k for that. Or if anyone has a nice atv for sale in my price range.... must be 4x4, at least a 500. and none of them junk pep boys atv's. A honda, yamaha, kawasaki, polaris, artic cat, or suzuki.

i know monday he mentioned a dealership was offering him 10k for it ... i can find out if you want.. but it is likely more then you want ... i dont think this truck has ever actually been off road .. less you count a gravel driveway to get to a hunting lodge ...

I saw my '92 K1500 Blazer for sale the other day for $3800. All those years of me keeping the paint perfect were in vain. It's pretty rough looking now :banghead:

If that were a 92 4x4 silverado instead of a blazer, it'd be right up my alley. But I'm not looking for an suv. My brother actually has a 97 blazer 4x4 he's trying to sell. But I'm looking for a truck or an atv. Looks like I'm leaning more towards an atv now. I can find trucks all over in my price range, but inly 2wd. Theres no way I can get thru grass, mud, etc, with a 2wd truck. Beleive me, I've already made the mistake of trying in my Suburban, but I didn't get very far. There are many areas on the deer lease that I don't think a 4x4 truck could even get through.

I'm an hour and a half north of you so I know what you're talking about. When it rains it gets pretty nasty in our region! I'll keep an eye out for stuff for sale for you. If you don't mind a little drive to find something, try www.eldoark.com and see what you can find. That's based out of El Dorado, AR which isn't too far from you. Good luck man!

I think the 92 K1500 Blazer that Wingnut is talking about is a full-size. That would probably work very well for your needs.

I know its a full size, the "K1500" let me know that, but I don't want an suv. I can't see myself twowing a dead bloodied deer into the back of an suv. That's why I kinda regret getting my Suburban now. Rather have a truck. Plus I like the option of still being able to put an atv in the back of a truck as well. If I get an atv in the furure, than I wont have to get a trailer. You can't fit an atv in the back of an suv. Thats why I'm just trying to find a cheap older truck that will suit my needs so I can have the Suburban AND a truck, the best of both worlds. Another option I'm thinking about is getting a trailer and an atv. I can tow it to the lease in my Suburban, but then I'd have to travel the entire lease in the atv. Thats what my father in law does, he put his atv in the back of his truck(2wd) and as soon it he get to the lease, he gets on the atv.Its all gravel roads up to that point. 2300+ acres is way to far to be walking in my opinion, and the dirt roads get way to muddy for a 2wd truck, thats why I need either a 4x4 or an atv. So what do you guys think? Should I just go for a tralier and atv, or try for a 4x4 truck? My budget is 3800 MAX, and a 4 wheeler alone is goin to cost more than that unless I get one 10 years old. I'm still lookin around.

Yeah my brother still has the blazer. It's a 97 s-10 blazer 4wd, located in Baton Rouge, LA. I think he said he wanted around 3800 for it. Last I heard, he had around 140,000 miles on it. It's black with tan leather int. I havent talked to him in the past few days, I can't get in touch with him.

I've got a 1993 Ranger XLT for sale, I had bought it for my foreman, found out he was stealing from me, and repo'd it about 3 weeks ago. Just got the title in Friday. After market bumpers, light covers, which are both line-X'd, as well as the fender flares, bed, rocker panels, etc., all sprayed. ASE carpeted cover. Here's the kicker....it doesn't run....well.

We bought it for $3600 knowing it needed a rebuild ( 4.0 V6 ), but it ran (roughly, like on 4 or 5 cylinders). Then the water pump went out, and they were in the middle of changing it when I reposseded it.....the fan just needs to be put back on, and the tool is still on the fan. Then it would at least run again, but still needs work, probably a rebuild.....but to be very honest, the rest of the truck makes it WELL worth a new or rebuilt motor.

MAKE ME AN OFFER.

I'm in Slidell, LA, just north of N'awlins.

Nevermind on the truck. I decided to give up on a 4x4 truck for now. I ended up buying an 08 Yamaha Grizzly 4x4 today. I love it. But now I have to go get me a small trailer to tow it on. My father in law is letting me use his trailer for now. I walked in the dealership just to look around and ended up buying one. After a bit of haggling, they gave me the numbers I wanted to hear, and I ended up sealing the deal. But now that I look back on it, I ask myself, "How the hell do I go from just looking, to walkin out with brand new 08?" And I now realize the answer, having VERY good credit is finally paying off, lol. Maybe I'll get another truck after I finish paying for my new toy, or as my wife calls it, "my christmas present".
