Hello all, I am in dreadful needof replaceing my OE Generals on my trunk(4yrs&46k). I live in NW Iowa and need a good tire for my 2WD Silverado. I "think" I want a AT type tire, But on e thats not too agresive looking. I mean I have 2WD, I'm happy with my 2WD, & I don't want it looking like a 4WD. I was thinking of the Pirelli Scorpion ATRpi_scorpion_atr_owl_ci2_l.jpg

Dose anyone on this site have any experance with this tire? Please Share.

if you want a good all around tire i would highly recommend the Michelin LTX M/S. i am on my second set now. I got about 85K out of the first and i gave them to my brother who put easily another 20K on them before getting rid of them. My set now has around 25K on them and the tread still looks as good as it did new.

By all means trash the Ameritracs, they are not safe. I have never had Pirelli tires but from what I hear the Scorpian seems to be a solid tire. Take a look at Nitto 420S, I can tell you they grip 20 times better than my old Ameritracs.

I put a set of Scoprpion ATRs on our new Suburban, and have been happy enough with them.

They seem pretty smooth and quiet on the road, yet offer decent traction for the mild off-roading we've done. Winter traction seemed OK, although I'll be putting real winter tires on the truck this year. In the rain, I had a couple of instances where I felt the tire was starting to hydroplane a little sooner than I thought it should, but it doesn't rain much around here, so I never really got the chance to test it out for certain. It's mainly my wife's truck, and she thought the tires were fine in the wet.

FYI, I really wanted a set of Dueller A/T Revos, but they were backordered, so I went with the Scorpions. They're probably a little nicer on the highway (where we drive 98% of the time), but maybe not quite as good off-road or in the winter.

Here's a pic of them on our truck.

I have Scorpion ATRs on my new truck and they are nothing short of superb so far. Handling is really good. I only have 2600 miles on the truck so I can't speak for wear but they drive great. Wet traction is really good too. Go to www.tirerack.com and check out the reviews. That's how I ended up with a set.

I had a set of Scorpion ATR's on my old 96 2door tahoe and they were really good tires. It was a 4x4 but we drove in snow, ice, and plenty of mud with no problems. They held up really well on the highway (50,000 miles) until I sold the tahoe with plenty of tire left. Good all around tire most of the time was driving around metro streets.

AFAIK, the Scorpion ATRs are a new tire and were only introduced late last year.

Maybe yours were the old Scorpion A/Ts?

I just put a set on my '07 NBS 2WD Vortex Max Silverado and really like them. I had purchased a set of Tahoe Rims (20") with the stock Bridgestone tires and they had no wet traction. I couldn't pull my boat off the new boat ramp at the lake. Put the Pirelli's ATR's on and under the same conditions the truck doesn't even spin @ the ramp.

The wierd thing is I really like Bridgestone Tires, I had some on my '99 800 Silverado and they were great. I was really bummed when I got the 20" duler. They would break loose on any pavement anytime.

:pimp: for the Pirelli ATR's

Well I found a great deal on the Pirilli ATR's on Ebay through Discount tire direct($548w/shipping). I had them mounted & balanced with Equal @ a local shop. I have put on 500miles so far. I find them to be a fantastic tire in town and on the hiway. I get zero road noise up to 75MPH, after that I have to turn up the radio. I thank you all for the great advice in regards to this tire, I will keep you all posted if we ever get any rain or the inevantable snow.

COOL! I think you'll love them. I was a BFG All Terrain buyer for years and these have won me over. If I did any real off-roading I'd probably have to stick with the BFGs but for pulling my boat out of the water and general driving the Pirellis are fantastic. You'll love them in the rain too.

Post an update once you see some weather to drive in.

Every company makes multiple brands. From cheap tires to expensive tires.

I had a problem with my BF Goodrich tires. Wrote letter to BF Goodrich and was told that the tire division is now owned by Michelin.

I do have a set of Pirelli snow tires for my 1990 1500. Have had them for 10 years now. Darn good tire.
