2002 Chevy Tracker ZR2 4wd...

We just picked it up and traded in the S10 Trailblazer:

Would have liked a 5-speed but I do like the way they put the transfer case lever on the floor.   It has a regular 4hi/4lo transer case.   There's also a OD on/off switch and a POWER switch which does the same thing as the TOW/HAUL switch on Silverado pickups.  Power windows and locks with remote keyless control, cruise control, power mirrors, tachometer etc.  

2.5L V6 DOHC 24 valve.  Motor is made by Suzuki and has  165HP/162lb-ft (Wow! )  Ok so it's no Vortec 8.1L but it moves along pretty good.  Also has a barn-wrecking 1500lbs tow rating so I can at least pull a small utility trailer:

 

ZR2 option includes V6 engine, wheel flares, skid plates, wider tires, alloy wheels and sport grill.  It's alot smaller than the Blazer but we needed some cheaper payments due to arrival of our baby and this should save some $$ in gas and insurance also.  Hopefully this weekend I can take it offroad and see how it handles driving in some fields etc.

I'm performance minded, and I' can't help but think of how that thing would move with 200 Rear Wheel HP. Too, bad the tracker dosen't have a performance following.  I bet it gets good MPG though!  I you ever take it off-road, report, I've always wondered what those ZR2 trackers could do!

Do you guys like it better than the (old style) trailblazer?

It's just fine-my wife really likes it.  The biggest difference I notice is the smaller cargo space in the rear.  The luxury items we gave (which I don't relly care about ) up are heated leather seats, the trip computer/thermometer and Onstar and 1 or 2 other items.  The Tracker handles and steers better and the acceleration is about the same as the old Trailblazer's due to the lighter weight.  The Tracker rides quieter except when it downshifts at interstate speed-then you can hear a good bit of engine noise.  Seems like it's a slightly rougher/bouncier ride than the old S10 TB.

 

As far as offroading, I doubt I have it anywhere that would really test it for awhile.  I drove in some meadows with it and it gets good traction.  I put it in 4hi and stomped the pedal from stop on some slight hills in wet grass a few times and I could'nt get either axle to spin a bit.   Took it up and down some fairly steep but smooth hillsides and it does fine-actually was alot of fun.   My wife hardly ever drives off a paved road and she even had fun .  No rock crawling though-sorry guys!

 

And no superchargers or lifts either!  I'll have a some fun in it, but it's her errand runner/baby hauler first.  The only things I want to put on it is a hitch reciever and front bug shield.

About a year ago, my old 3rd shift boss bought one almost identical!!!  As far as I know he really likes it.  I hope you like yours/hers too...
