Tonneau Cover Advice

Just as the the title states I want to get a hard cover for my ext cab reg bed silverado. I'm looking at things like the truxedo duece or something to that affect, I use my bed preatty regularly, not just for hauling big stuff, but small stuff aswell. I need to be able to access the bed without taking the cover off, but also be able to take the cover off completly to stuff something big in there.

Do any of you guys have the truxedo or have any experience with it? I live in WA state so it would have to be able to put with alot of weather abuse as well as create a good seal to keep my stuff from getting soaked..

I'll be getting line-x'd in a couple weeks and my local linex dealer is also a truxedo dealer and is pushing me to go for it, your opinions are APPRECIATED!

I kinda like the look of the ARE covers, very high quality from what I've seen. And it's lockable. My personal favorite covers are those slidable ones like on an Avalanche, 3-piece type etc.

AS far as the Truxedo, I have an Extang Express, which is alot like the Truxedo Lo Pro, and it stays virtually dry inside, I get rain and some snow here. I really like it.

As far as a hard cover, I had a Snug Lid, and it was WAY to heavy to take off by myself, so I really never took it off, rendering my truck useless. If I did want another jard cover, I would probably get an Undercover, or maybe the Extang Solid Fold...

Also, If any salesman promises you something is water tight, be prepared to be disappointed.

Yea I kinda figured, they were carefull to tell me that they were water tight depending on conditions, which I would assume means if it raints alot it probably wont be completly sealed. Guess its just to much to ask to get something removable that won't soak my gear too.

I have the Extang Full Tilt which is a soft cover and it works very well. The only moisture I have gotten inside is when I spray the tailgate area with the hose. It is very versitle you can roll up the cover and remove the center bows or remove the complete cover attached to the frame, either of these can be done in just a copule minutes.

The big concern with folding hard covers (and rain) is they are usually flat. Unless the vehicle is moving or parked on a slope the water does not run off. This is why many have leaking issues. Have already posted the problems with my Bak-flip, so won't repeat them other than it sags in the middle & leaks like a sive. Have also had trucks with fiberglass covers and caps. Both are a PITA, two-man job to remove for bulky objects not to mention the storage of the cover while off the truck.

If you truely need a hard cover for security reasons, take a look at Torza-top folding cover. Has the moisture-seal benefits of a one-piece vynal soft-cover with a hard plastic liner under the skin. Looks like a good compromise. Would do this before spending big $ on another folding hard cover.

I like the DP products cover that I have. It was only 190.00 and you can un-snap it anywhere, and it's got a lifetime warrenty...http://www.buytruckstuff.com/tonneau-cover-sst.htm

Thats not where I ordered it from, but it's the same one.

Thanks for all the opinions guys, I'm taking a look at all the ones you guys posted, most of them are preatty similiar. My main concern is ease of removal and accessibility when its on and most of these do that preatty well.

It works great for what I need.

I bought a Torza Top Hardhat Tri Folding tonneau cover after much research. I wanted a waterproof folding cover with no rails, and hard versus soft. It looks great unfortunately arrived damaged last week, probably dropped by shipper. I'm waiting for a replacement.

Extang Solid Fold, I can take it off by myself, no locks to worry about, I just use my locking tailgate

I purchased a Leer 700 series hard tonneau cover. I am extremely happy with it. I also got a bed rug installed under the cover and its always stays dry. The cover came with an liner inside, an adapter to use my remote to unlock it and it also comes with two keys. It claims that it is easily removed, but I have never try. The cover is connected to a frame with hinges (one piece). Unfasten the frame from the truck bed by removing the c-clamps and the entire cover and frame removes. To reinstall the cover, line the frame up inside the bed. Re-install the C-clamp and your back in business. I would say that it is a two man operation though.
