Dynamat For The Doors

Anyone install the Dynamat Door kits to reduce road noise and improve sound quality?

I can do all for doors for $100, just don't know if it makes that much of an improvement. Haven't been inside the door panels of NBS yet, but will need to soon to replace the speakers. Tired of listening to rattles when the crappy stock speakers have any sort of base.

All 4 doors for $100? :rollin:

Don't get the wrong idea on sound deadening....the term is rather misleading. Though you will notice a difference in road noise, it will be very far from silent. Usually sound deadening increases response from audio more then quieting the outside.

Usually, to properly sound deaden a door, it takes a significant amount of material...and work hours.

Dynamat works great. Not so much for reducing road noise (which there is little of in a GMT900 truck) but it really tightens up the sound of a clean audio setup. 100 bucks won't come close to doing 4 doors though... even at wholesale.

I put 100sf in my single cab awhile back and it did ok, but nothing like the testimonials i read. did help with speakers not vibrating, rattling anymore though. i just wanted that mud tire whine gone, and it helped but its still there by any means. i might? do it over again.

Thanks everyone for the reply's... As for the hundred bucks to do all 4 doors with Dynomat Extreme, I obviously would be doing the work myself and you can get the door kits off Amazon for $52... which is said to do 2 doors.

or bulk pack should do the trick.

I am more frustrated with crappy speakers that are in there and the rattling I get from any sort of base. The truck is going into the dealer this week to fix the back passenger door panel because I am ready to rip it off and mail it back to GM... Please Make the Rattling in My Head Stop!!!

So... If I am hearing everyone correctly. Maybe just use the Dynomat 10"x10" sheet where the speakers sit when I replace the speakers to reduce vibration. But don't do the whole door because it won't change the noise or sound quality?

What makes me laugh is my back passenger door rattles too!

BADLY!

And I said the same s**t the other day, wripping it off and mailing back to GMC.

HAHAHA... did you really? that's too funny... :rollin: Bet GM might fix the problem if they started getting a bunch of door panels sent to the engineering deparment with a nice little note.

I did read in a post that someone had the same problem and the dealer said the factory was missing a retaining clips on the back passenger door.

Ok, and I thought I was hearing things! I had my son crawl all around trying to find the noise!!!! We found it to be the rear door pillar panel. hmm, will have to do something about that, how about instead of a group purchase, we do a group return??!!

Well the group return sounds like a good idea when I hear rattles... makes me want my 05 silverado back. :rollin: However, I do like the ride in the NBS... much stiffer and I like the higher look and feel of the Sierra's hood and grill. I have just never hear so many little rattles from door panels before. I am starting to hear little tiny rattles in the driver's side door. Thought I was losing my mind.. and its not like I can turn the speakers up to dround out the noise.. it only makes it worse.

I only have 600 miles on the truck and going to change the speakers soon.. they just don't sound good. I am going to take some extra time putting the panels back on to make the noise stop... now leaning towards the second skin sound damping pads as a little extra effort to stop the rattles.. the materials seem to be $55 for the doors 13 sq ft. it might be worth it if I'm taking the doors a part to do speakers and change out the door handles to painted ones.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one.

Maybe for Christmas GM will come out with a TSB to swap out door panels... I had a new accord back in the day and when I put my arm on the door it had a rattle...I took it in and they ordered a new door panel for me no questions asked.. now that's was customer service. I am hoping my local dealer can fix this truck.. if not I will be left to take care of it myself....
