07 Nbs Sierra Problems

Took my 07 sierra in monday for two issues. Ever since i brought it home from the dealer when new the front bumper has been misaligned. the sides drooped down where they meet the fenders. After driving through the lot and looking at the other sierras i found about 1 out of 5 had this problem allthough mine was much worse then any i saw.

The second item that i though was probably nothing big and doubted the dealer would even hear or be able to "duplicate" was a light popping noise that was noticable only at idle with the truck in drive and the brke on. Sounded like the truck had a slight miss fire but it felt like it was running very smooth. I really love this truck so far, great power, ride is a little stiff in the front but that is probably due to the 2" leveling kit on the coil overs. Just put new 18" rims on it with 285/65/18 BFG's a day before i took it in. Its going to be a week soon and i really need my truck for work. Now i am being told they are going to tear into the engine. It only has less then 4000 miles on it so that makes me very ticked. Any advice? Maybe they should just swap me an 08 for my troubles?

Well, I just thought i was being picky about my truck. But I have the droopy side front bumper also.

But I never thought to check it against any other truck.

I just now went looking on ebaymotors to see if I could spot one and found a truck that has the same bumper defect as ours.

If you scroll down to the second medium size side shot you'll see it. Its not really that much of a deal but if you compare two trucks you can see it. I may crawl up under mine this weekend and see if it is just a mounting issue from the factory.

Let me know if your dealer comes up with any solution to the bumper issue.

Have not seen the truck since the dealer said the bumper was "fixed" But i am not all that confident they didnt just bend something to make it look better

Just got a call about the engine noise....service adviser said they have to tear the engine down and check the pistons. Mind you this is a brand new truck. d**n am i pissed off...they should just give me a brand new truck and fix this one and sell it. What a crock.

I would NOT let them tear into that motor until you have filed a complaint or spoke with your local GM rep. Then get another opinion from another GM service dept. Make sure they KNOW what the problem is before they start tearing it apart.

your telling me they dont have a camera they can stick in the plug hole, gee its almost 2008

my buddy has one at his garage he can look at valves and pistons with it.

i doubt the service dept is just going to rip into the engine, if the engine is running smooth and they dont know whats making the slight noise that you can hear, they wont get paid by warrenty and you will be out of a truck for a week. just make sure their aware of the noise and continue driving till something more concrete shows up.

After hearing from the dealer that they couldnt find the source of the noise i totaly expected them to say "its noted and if you have any more problems ....." but the dealer had a GM rep out to look at it yesterday after taking the vavle covers off and running it Gm says they want the engine torn down to check the pistons, rods, valves etc. WTF? I would rather just drive it and if something does breaker then they can fix it. I will be calling GM monday to find out whats really going on.

You will most likely get a brand-new engine. If the Tech(s) can't find anything, they won't put the engine back in your truck.

All you have to do is push for a new motor. I know it totally sucks with only 4k miles on it.

You should stop by the dealer ASAP, and TALK to the actual tech that is working on your truck. See what he thinks. Then post his findings here.

Can you describe what you are hearing with the engine?? A little more info??

BTW, are you using a PF-48 oil filter??

The oil filter isn't going to matter.

as far as the oil filter i dont remember what number but i do know i ran full synthetic mobil 1 with a mobil 1 filter the last 3000 miles.

This a machine, designed, built & maintained by human hands. Unfortunately you probably got the rare case where something did not go together correctly. GM is not going to just exchange you into an '08 for your troubles. They may swap motors which is the quickest & cheapest way for GM to fix this (which is likely the reason why the GM rep was out to look). If they tell you the engine needs to come out of the truck and be torn-down for inspection, insist on a crate engine replacement. They will likely say OK to get this resolved as paying a dealer to tear-down an engine can take on a life of it's own. While you are talking to GM on Monday, insist on a loaner truck until they fix yours. Willing to bet this will expedite the process.

They are covering a loaner but its not a truck. I am in construction so its a huge problem not to have my truck. As for replacing the truck i know they wont due that. They should but they wont. I have bought so many new trucks and a few new cars from GM . If they dont keep me happy through this ordeal they will lose me as a customer. That will cost them far more then trading me even up for a new truck. I cant expect them to understand this so it may be a lost cause. There have been way too many unresolved issues with some of my trucks it really makes me doubt the training some of the "techs" are receiving. I have had to figure alot of the problems out myself and tell them what to fix and what parts to use. This is at more then one dealership. This site has been a huge help in all the research i do.
