Tail Light Brakes

I have a 2004 Chevy Silveraldo Z71 with brake light issue. My brake lights on my trailer and my cab mounted brake lights work fine. My problem is in the taillights, every light in my taillights work except the brakes. Any suggestions?

Which one is the problem, the way you describe it, it sounds a little confusing, which lights are not lighting up, the ones on your truck or on your trailer? I was gonna say fuse as well.

No, I could not find any bad fuses.

Brake lights in the tailights do not work when the brake is applied. The truck is equiped with the trailer package. When I hook up my trailer the brake lights on the trailer do work which doesn' make any sense but hopefully eliminates whether or not it is a bad fuse

Maybe both brake light bulbs are burned out in the taillight assemblies? Not likely, but possible.

Bad ground at the lamp housing on the trick? The trailer will have a separate ground wire going thru the trailer connector plug to the trailer lights.

There are no grounds at the housing that i could see, only a wiring harness, i'll start at the housing and back track for the ground. I haven't checked both bulbs yet either. Thanx for the input!!!!!!!!!

I would try bulbs first. The brake lights in general are coming on, so it is not the switch. All the other light work so I doubt it is a ground. It could be a fuse if you missed it because those brake lights are circuited seperate from the Center High Mount Stop Light, and the trailer lights.

Brake light issue solved. Both bulbs were bad, both bulbs worked when lights were on with exception for when the brake was applied. Only visible sign that there was anything wrong with them was a slight tint to the bulbs, neither bulb had a visible breaks in the filaments. Thanx again for all the input!
