I have a 2003 GMC 2500HD. I do not subscribe to Onstar and pressed the control button for Onstar on my steering wheel which mutted my audio system. How can I reset this? And can this be disabled so it does not happoen in the future. Thanks.

Press it again to turn the mute off and in the future, how about you keep your finger off the button.

I did press it again. The radio face plate indicated phone for a few seconds and then switched back to radio, which is playing per radio face plate display however audio is still muted. I have pushed it again several times as well as every other button on the radio and it is still mutted. Tried a CD as well and it plays but sound is mutted. Any ideas?

If it were me, I would remove the radio and onstar fuses and let everythin reset. Then I would replace the radio fuse and leave the onstar fuse out. I would then try the onstart/mute again, if the same un-recoverable mute problem occurs, i would then remove the radio fuse then replace it and never touch the steering onstar/mute again.

Great suggestion!! This worked however the fuse for the Onstar also serves the rear seat radio controls so I need to keep both fuses in. Just removing and replacing the radio fuse cleared the problem. I love my 2500HD but without some music the diesel engine sure seems LOUD!! Thanks a bunch.
