Driving In Sand

Is it best to turn of traction control and stabilitrak when driving in the sand? When I was on the beach it would seem like the systems were fighting me sometimes.

I'd guess so. At the very least stabilitrac. Traction control may actually help a bit.

I didn't have either, and always did fine in the sand with the right tires. Nitto Terra Grapplers were the best A/T tires I've used, if you were wondering

Turn it all off, yes, it fights the driver.

I found the trick is getting the locker to engage and keep it locked that way you just go where you like.

I found by tapping the Gas pedal, let off and back on locks that locker and away you go. Sometimes when you stop it popps back out but if it doesn't keep trucking!

Whether to turn them off or not I do not know, but I do know that the main thing is to NOT STOP. I drove my dad's Chevy Biscayne onto a beach one year, and the sand suddenly turned soft. I was still rolling, so I kept my foot on the accelerator to keep moving and worked my way around in a circle to get back to hard sand. It took a little more and a little more power to keep moving, and I was shooting out a pretty good rooster tail by the time I got back to hard sand, but I made it.

Since traction control doesn't like spinning tires, I would think turning it off would be better.
