This week my fuel guage started reading empty, low fuel light came on. Stopped truck, shut it off and problem went away. Yesterday the same thing happened, navagation system asked me if I wanted to find a gas station and the check enging light came on. Called Onstar and the check engine light is for the low fuel situation. I will call the dealer tomorrow but was wondering if this is something common.

Before you replace the sensor, add a bottle of Chevron's Techron. Approx 1 oz to 1 gal and see if it helps. I would do it for two tanks before replacing the sensor. It does a great job of cleaning the sensor and in may cases it will cure this problem. Be sure and get the pure Techron and not the fuel inj cleaner with Techron.

I also know someone who added Lucas Fuel Inj cleaner to a gm truck that had been having fuel gauge issues for months. It fixed it and at last report, the gauge was still working. Lucas does not make this claim but Techron states it right on their lable.

Worth a try before dropping the tank.

I am going to call the dealer in the morning. It only has 3000 miles on it. Thanks for the info.
